It's the Romans' fault. Our modern calendar is loosely based on their old, confusing one. Though records on the Roman calendar are sparse and sketchy, legend has it that Romulus, the first king of Rome, devised a 10-month lunar calendar that began at the spring equinox in March and ended with December. It is unclear whether there were any official months between December and March, but it's likely they were left off because the wintertime wasn't important for the harvest.

some how i stumbled onto the US geological earthquake website. its actually a really cool site with a ton of information dating back thousands of years. for example did you know that the worlds deadliest earthquake was in 1556, in china and it killed 830,000 people? the second deadliest was just a few years ago that resulted in the devastating tsunami killing 283,106.

after some further searching, i found that they have an RSS feed of the latest earthquakes from around the world. me being the geek that i am did a little programming and now as you can see to the right are the last 8 quakes with a magnitude of 2.5 or greater. pretty cool, huh?

i am the luckiest person in the world. just look at how beautiful my wife is... i can't believe that my life is as great as it is. thank you god. thank you heather, i love you so much!
