and we're back
we are back at home. we actually got home really fast took about 1.5 hours. i figured it would take atleast 3 hours thankfully we left today and not sunday otherwise it would have taken 6 hours fighting all the traffic.
heather is asleep, her back is hurting. i have been fighting with the kids nonstop, my head is hurting(nothing a couple of beers won't cure :]). i don't know what their problem is but they will not leave me alone, not even to go to the bathroom... i'll show them, lol. just wait.
i think i am going to watch elf now. it has been on tbs all week but i keep catching the end of it. its one of my favorites. tomorrow we have to pick up the dog and i think i am going to put up the christmas lights. or i may just lay on the couch all day, i'll let you know tomorrow.

friday night, in big bear
we all just got home, this being our last night we went to the movies. we saw deck the halls. i thought it was a great christmas movie, although its hard to watch anything with matthew broderick without thinking of ferris bueller . the best part is when danny devito sync'd his christmas lights with music using an ipod mixer. good stuff.
we are now back at the cabin watching numb3rs. i am editing all the pictures, cameron and joey are doing magic tricks with a deck of cards, heather is playing nintendo ds (which she has been doing the entire trip, i have lost her... again) and vicky just got back from gramma's cabin. we have the fire going strong, enjoying our last day in the mountains. not looking forward to tomorrow packing and cleaning. back to reality.
thank you mom for a wonderful trip. its been a fabulous week with lots of great memories.

thursday, happy thanksgiving from big bear!

happy thanksgiving everyone! i just got done stuffing my face and i can barely move now. we had all the favorites: mashed potatoes, green beans, fruit salad (yummy yummy), some very scary looking candied yams, ham, bread, butter and of course smoked turkey. next up pie, pie and more pie!
i am thankful for many many things... one, my wife and i have a very strong and successful relationship. we are very connected and i love that. things have never been better between us and everyday it gets better, she is the woman of my dreams. i am thankful for my three wonderful children. that they are very healthy and strong. that they are doing very well in school. i am thankful for my mother and how she keeps us all together, i love you very much mom. i am thankful that things are just going so well right now. i pray that god looks over us and keeps us strong.
well i guess i should go see if there is anything i need to do, like purge myself to get ready for pie. happy thanksgiving everyone, i hope that your day is as great as ours.

$0$0today we woke up to a cabin full of kids. we all got dressed went to starbucks and then we went bowling, where i kicked everyone's a**, yes i am good i know. afterwards we went back to the cabins, watched the divinci code which was pretty good. obviously not as good as the book but good none the less.$0$0after some much needed rest, we went to the cowboy express for dinner. i had the pork ribs joey had steak and i don't remember what anybody else had but from what i gather it was pretty tastey. its not that cold up here, well its cold but not cold enough to make snow. at night it gets in the high 20's, during the day it gets in the mid 60's. as the week progresses its supposed to get colder but i don't think cold enough for them to make snow.$0

Happy 9th Birthday Cameron!
Today is Cameron's 9th birthday, and what a day it was! We started the day with an over excited Cameron waking up at 6:30 this morning. By 8:30 we were on the soccer field, where thanks to the magic of Cameron's birthday we won Cam's game 4-0. Came home, chaged clothes, picked up Mason, wrapped presents. Chris took Cam and Mason to pick up the cake while I took Joey to his friend Dawson's party at Camelot. We got to Cam's party at
BrewBakers just in time to hand make our delicious pretzels and brew, kick-mix, and bottle our rootbeer. (And maybe have a few
beer beers too). If you have the chance to visit this place, I highly reccomend it. It's very small, but an awesome concept, fun time, and extremely friendly staff. Cam got some awesome gifts and had a great time. Gramma took him to get a motor scooter and to go see Santa Clause 3 with his friend Mason. We got him an iPod video.
All in all, I think my spoiled rotten child had a good birthday.
In other news....
Joey has been placed on the all star team for soccer. YAY Joey!!
Vicky has just returned from her 7th grade trip to Catalina. She appears to have had a wonderful time; kayaking, squid dissecting, snorkeling, hiking, etc. And eating plankton.
And Joey, who sells things at his store like Nerds for $.99, has decided I am for sale, for the fair price of 300,00 million. Any takers?
Next weekend we are off to Big Bear, to celebrate Chris' birthday (19), his sister's (24) and Thanksgiving. Also this month, we celebrate my sister's 25th (12), and my nephew's 15th (15th). wish us luck in this, our time of supreme busyness.
And remember, life is a blessing, even when we are at our whit's end! Live it to the fullest for you never know when it will be taken from us. (OK, I watched Saw I & II)

toys
steve sent me a link this morning, link, that got me thinking back to my childhood. i can't think of a better time than when i was in 4th, 5th and 6th grade. before stupid girls and hormones screwed you all up. life was just great. i can remember playing with lego's for hours and hours building the death star or having wrestle mania with the junk yard dog and andre the giant as the main event.
my favorite toys must have been transformers, you know: transformers, more than meets the eye. transformers, robots in disguise. haha... its weird because my kids are about this age and they aren't into anything like that. they listen to their ipods, play on their computers but none of them sit down and play with action figures or transformers or even lego's. when i try to get them to they get bored with them so easily. it seems like kids now are growing up way faster than i did and it really sucks because thinking back now those were some of the best times ever.

how to survive in a plummenting elevator
thanks will, this is the best part the warnings:
Jumping just before the elevator hits the bottom is not a viable alternative. Just do the math; if the lift is falling at 100mph, (figures are not accurate example of speeds of falling lifts) and you were to jump up, at the exact right moment at a velocity of 5mph, your total downward velocity is 95mph!

failed mcdonalds items
don't ask why i think i was looking up the McPizza but here are some failed McDonald's items:
Hulaburger: A Ray Kroc invention, it featured a slice of pineapple instead of meat. Originally intended for Roman Catholics who were not allowed to eat meat on Fridays. It flopped when it was test-marketed in 1963.
Big Xtra: (U.S. version; for International variants on the Big Xtra, see Big N' Tasty) A three-eighths pound hamburger patty with optional American cheese, served with ketchup, mayonnaise, onions, three pickles, leaf lettuce, and a tomato slice on a sesame seed bun. Discontinued in the 2001 in favor of the Big N' Tasty.
Chili cheeseburger: the standard McDonald's cheeseburger, but with a no-bean chili sauce in place of mustard or ketchup. (2002) Test marketed in southern California.
McDonald's has also attempted pizza at various times, with an apple-pie-like McPizza and more conventional McDonald's Pizza.
i think they need to bring back the hula burger!! here is the whole list.

being the bad guy... again
on my way home from work, on my way to meet my family at my son's school fall festival i get a call from my wife. "do yo know what your son did?", asks my wife... what now!? (earlier, i got a call from heather letting me know that he was at detention for talking to much in class.) both my son's go to the after school daycare that is provided at the school, well this particular day my son decides to leave campus for 15 minutes, which he has never done before. his story, he was asking if he could go home with one of his friends, which he knows he is not allowed to do. his punishment, he doesn't get to go to the festival.
since they were already there heather let him play until i got there, in which i took him home. he swears that he was only gone for 5 minutes in either case he shouldn't have walked outside of the gate for 1 second. now i feel like a horrible person, was the punishment to much? i hate second guessing myself. hopefully he learns to never do this again.
