Friends
Today I have been faced with many revelations about friendship. The three most important ones were these:
1) Sometimes, people who you treat with respect and care will turn on you with nasty swiftness, for no apparent reason, and were never your friends to begin with.
2)People you hold closest to you can easily hurt you with their inability to be what they are supoosed to be to you, their unwillingness to support you as you would, and have, supported them. This one has made me question much, cut to the quick and made me realize what I thought I had, thought I knew and could trust, were not there in this person at all. I am deeply hurt and disappointed.
3) You will find loyalties where you were not looking. Perhaps it's time for me to re-assess my own loyalties.
To those of you who have shown me care and love in the face of this, I love you. To one who couldn't find it in them to back me, thank you for opening my eyes. Sometimes the truth hurts more than others.
To my husband, I love you more than life and you are a wonderful person. Anyone who doesn't see that has no place in either of our lives, at all.You have given deeply of yourself in a myriad of ways. Some of them did not deserve it. I'm sorry.

Tarot Card

You are the Fool card. The Fool fearlessly begins
the journey into the unknown. To do this, he
does not regard the world he knows as firm and
fixed. He has a seemingly reckless disregard
for obstacles. In the Ryder-Waite deck, he is
seen stepping off a cliff with his gaze on the
sky, and a rainbow is there to catch him. In
order to explore and expand, one must disregard
convention and conformity. Those in the throes
of convention look at the unconventional,
non-conformist personality and think What a
fool. They lack the point of view to understand
The Fool's actions. But The Fool has roots in
tradition as one who is closest to the spirit
world. In many tribal cultures, those born with
strange and unusual character traits were held
in awe. Shamans were people who could see
visions and go on journeys that we now label
hallucinations and schizophrenia. Those with
physical differences had experience and
knowledge that the average person could not
understand. The Fool is God. The number of the
card is zero, which when drawn is a perfect
circle. This circle represents both emptiness
and infinity. The Fool is not shackled by
mountains and valleys or by his physical body.
He does not accept the appearance of cliff and
air as being distinct or real. Image from: Mary

The lightening, it fried SOMEthing...
So last night and today, Mother Earth has shown us what she can do. Eerily beautiful, alternating between dark and pregnant skies, massive lightening shows too close for comfort, and awe inspiring rainbows throughout the sky, this storm has left me expecting an earthquake. The air has that weird feeling to it; that intangible quality that you can't quite name, yet it's there all the same.
In any case, I had Vicky's conference yesterday and both the boys' today. All three of them, across the board, doing excellent. I mean like whoa. That good. Excellent academically, excellent citizenship, excellent everything. All 3. Of my kids. I know.

weekend notes

this past weekend has been an eventful one for sure. it all started thursday night when i took jason to the airport. everything seemed normal until i dropped him off. as i was leaving the airport my car radio start flickering, turning off and on. uh-oh, this happened about a week ago as i was driving home from work. when i got home the car wouldn't start again. the guys here at work thought it was the alternator so they replaced that and gave the car back. all seemed good. fast forward to thursday night, i get on the freeway thinking that as long as i don't shut the car off i will be ok. so i am driving down the 15 fwy and my lights start to go dim to the point where i think my headlights aren't even on. then the check engine light came on, then the srs and anti-lock brake lights. great... when i got on the 91 the car just completly shut off. dammit! so i tried calling heather, no answer (in the shower). i call jimmy who says he's on his way to get me, thank god! then i call pat, upset i tell him what happened. after i was finished he proceeds to tell me that my uncle just rolled his car. um WTF!? thankfully he was ok, but now i feel like a complete ass.
friday was our friend kenny's birthday. they had rented a party bus and the bus was to leave at 7:00pm. shouldn't be a problem since i got off at 4 and heather at 4:30. well 5:15 came around and we finally got on the road. of course, friday night rush hour traffic had already started and we did nothing but crawl for an hour and 45 minutes. luckily the bus was running late so we made it in plenty of time. the whole night was awesome, we had tons of fun. drank WAY to much and paid for it all day saturday.
saturday cameron had a soccer game at 9 in the morning. had to be there by 8:15. when you get home at 4:30 in the morning 8 rolls around REALLY fast. no way in hell are we going i think to myself but my awesome wife who thinks she is superwoman and most of the time she is decides he can't miss the game and gets up to take him. how she did it i will never know. i took joey to his game at 1 and heather came up to meet us half way through it. the rest of the day was spent dealing with vicky's drama, i won't go into it cause well i just don't wanna talk about it :P
saturday night heather and i watched the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy and then went to bed.
sunday we slept in for a little bit then decided to go to the festival at the church down the street. we invited my mom who was coming back from my sisters house. that church must make a killing... i spent $60 in less then an hour. it was crazy but lots of fun. we left after we ate, if we didn't i was going to have to sell one of the kids to pay for the rest of the afternoon. sunday night the boys and i picked jason up from the airport and the weekend was finally over.

Oh My God
So on the eve of a very long day for me, the afternoon through evening proves to be very stressful.
The day started innocent enough; last night's tiff forgiven, I was in fairly good spirits when I arrived at work. Twice complimented on how thin I lookes, I was in excellent spirits when I left for a meeting in Santa Monica. I enjoyed good conversation on the way there, and won the grand raffle prize of 2 $75 seats to a Mighty Ducks game. Then I left work and entered purgatory. Not hell, because that's at least final; no, it was purgatory for me.
Tomorrow I am due to begin work at 7 am, and leave at 4:30 pm, then straight home to change and rush off to a friend's party 2 hours away. My mind on that, I get a call informing ,me that our scouts must be ready by TOMORROW to retire Old Glory from school. Tomorrow. Yeah, okay, right. So I am scrambling around trying to call every boy at are school (not to mention finding out which ones GO to our school) trying to organize the older boys and let them know what they need to do/say, and the phone rings again. It's Scholastic. As in books. For the book fair. That I am running. NEXT MONTH. She wants to meet with me monday and then the following wednesday, and as I check my calendar I realize that flyers need to go out by thursday and I have done nothing. I called my co-chair and freaked on her, then remembered that Chris was taking his cousin Jason to the airport and he was having dinner with us. Which was fine, except I had no dinner and 2 soccer practices. Nixed soccer, ran to the store, developed an explosive headache along with tunnel vision that allowed me NOT to see that my boys were literally pulling themselves down the aisles on their knees. Bought dinner and beer. Lots of beer.
Fast forward.... Chris has taken Jason. I hop into the shower. Miss the phone ringing. It was Chris, four times. His car broke down on the freeway. Someone was already coming to get him, so I waited. 15 minutes later he calls again. His uncle has rolled over his car. What. The. Fuck. (He is OK) Now I am sitting here waiting to hear from him, that he arrived safely at his office, where he is going to check on his uncle. I just want my husband home and safe.

I love it when stuff works out
SO this past weekend, despite being packed tighter than sardines, turned out OK. Everything got done, and I even got in a little time with Chris. Friday night we had girl scouts, then soccer practice, then boyscouts... didn't get home until 9pm. Saturday morning I woke up to remember that I had snack duty for Cameron's team, so I rushed out to the store to get snacks while Chris got the boys ready. Joey's soccer pictures at 10:05, Cameron's at 10:20, then I dropped Cameron at home for Chris to take to his 11:15 game and took Joey to his friend's birthday party... He stayed for an hour then we rushed him to HIS game that started at 12:15. Thought I had it made till we got there and realized he forgot one of his cleats, so we rushed home to get the other and managed to make it back in time. Both of the boys did very well at their respective games, Cameron was goalie. After the games, I took Joey back to his friends party. We left there around 3:30, came home to hang out with
Jason and the rest of the fam at home. Callie came up at 6 and Chris and I headed out for drinks at downtown disney and then to the movies to see
The 40 year old Virgin. Fucking HI-larious. Sunday was Tai's birthday party, so we spent the afternoon there, it was very nice. THEN on the way home from work today, I hit all the lights and had Underworld's Two Months Off playing and man that's a great song. Anyways, here's the pics...

end of the week
and so another weekend is about to start and not a moment to early... this week has been very hectic but according to heather the weekend may be worse. tomorrow we have joey's soccer pictures, then cameron's soccer pictures, then joey's soccer game, then cameron's soccer game. we then have to rush joey over to his friends birthday party. if we are lucky heather and i might escape for a couple of hours to go to a movie or to dinner, but that is iffy. sunday i have to work because well there just isn't enough hours in the week to get everything done. after that is our nephew's 2nd birthday party all the way out in elsinore... should make for an interesting weekend, i'll keep you posted with some pictures hopefully.

For Jared, Who Won't Even Read This
So this morning I rushed home from Joey's assessment (which he OWNED, he is so damn smart, he was bored with the questions) to take down the trash and get my cell. I grabbed the trash and began to push it in front of me, and suddenly I remembered the ginormous spider's web that was attched to the garbage can and the tree above, which was now entangled in my hair, WITH THE SPIDERS! Yes, plural. 3 spiders in my hair with their entire home. Ick. That was NOT FUN I tell you. Not fun at all. Happy Friday yall.
