im legal... again
i have been driving without a license for about 8 months now. it took a few months to realize it at first cause i never got anything in the mail and never needed to no when it expired. but after that it was pure laziness that kept me from going to the DMV. every week i would set out to make an appointment and then something would always come up. well today was the day i broke down and went. i tell you the DMV sux! stay away from the place if at all possible. the dumbest, rudest people are there and those are just the people in line. the workers are even worse!! not friendly at all and not respectful of time. i waited an hour to get up to have my license renewed then was told to go wait in another line to have my picture taken. so another 20 minutes, finally when i got up to the front of the line the guy said hold on i will be right back. he went to a different window, sat down and started working??? WTF was that, i waited another 10 minutes before somebody else came back from their lunch break to take my picture. finally got my picture taken and ran out of there, hopefully will not have to go back for another 6 years!

upgrading dsl lines
never would i have thought the differences between verizon and sbc global would be that signifigant. i have had a dsl line for about 4 years now at my house, and for the longest time it was 1.5Mb down and 384 up which was the norm. i did some research and found out that sbc was offering speeds up to 6Mb for roughly the same charge i had been paying for the 1.5, $49.95. when i noticed this i called sbc asked if i could be upgraded they said sure no problem it will take up to 10 days, you will notice when the service is running cause your downloads will be a lot faster. after about 3 days i noticted a tremendous difference, i was downloading at blazing speeds. i thought wow that was easy lets get other people the same offer.
i talked to rich and said hey we need to do this for your house. since he has 5 kids and each of them have their own computer the network has been running really slow. right now they are at 768 down. unfortunetly they have verizon, which i have never dealt with before. i talked to somebody yesterday and they said the best they could do was upgrade it to 1.5 but your connection would be down for up to 10 days. i couldn't believe this, when i changed mine at sbc it was just a matter of them making a few connections on their end never interupting my service. so i finally got ahold of rich and he said ok go for it. so i called back and have been on hold for literally 72 minutes being switched back and for from person to person. i swear its like they have no idea what is going on. finally got a hold of somebody that knows what they are doing and finally got it upgraded. from what she tells me that there should be no interuption so that is good, but just so bizarre how the two companies work...

grocery shopping
if you ever decide to have three kids never, i repeat never bring all of them grocery shopping. at least one is going to throw themselves on the floor because he didn't get m&m's.
for christmas the kids got a jar full of change and now wherever we go my son grabs a handful of change and while we are driving in the car he counts it out to see how much he has. by the time we get to the store he is already asking "what can i buy for 95 cents" this goes on the entire time we are shopping. finally he finds something so i tell him to put it in the basket, i will pay for it and he can give me his money. but this will NEVER do, he does not think he is paying for it if he doesn't hand the checker his money.
so when we get to the checkout after we pay for all the groceries, he has to give his candy bar to the checker, when she says its 84 cents he then pulls out a handful of change, to the horror of the people behind us he starts counting "10, 15, 16, dad whats 16 + 25" and so on. it is highly embarrassing!!

baby pageants
Today my nephew Tai was in a baby pageant, so I packed up the kids and Allison and drove down an hour away to Murietta to see him. He was by far the cutest baby there, but he won 1st runner up. The baby that one looked like he was suffering from malnutrition. The baby thatwon girls wasn't half as cute as the one who wone 4th runner up, and half of the two and 3 and 4 year olds looked like they were being Jon-Benet Ramsey for halloween. Yuck, I hate pageants.
Yesterday we took the kids to Wattles Park in LA, which is special to me because it's where I used to go to spend time with my dad. If my father's soul were to be anywhere, I truly beleive that's where it would be.
Pics here
Today we are just hanging out now, Chris has his management meetingso he won't be home till 5 or 6. :( Guess I'll take a nap.

Balboa Bay Club
today was our annual management meeting where the top managers get together to go over and set goals for the coming year. this year it was held at the beautiful balboa bay club. the meeting went surprisingly good, very long and boring at times but we got through it and came out with some great ideas for the coming year.
yesterday heather and i took the kids to wattles park in the hollywood hills. it is where heather used to go with her dad when she was younger to go hiking. it was a lot of fun, just kinda scary with the little ones. the trails were really steep and going up was a challenge but coming down was VERY scary we got up to see the budda and went to the tree heather used to play in but after that we decided we weren't prepared to go much further with the kids.
we came home and turned on the spa when we got in, we all smelled something that didn't smell right so we decided that it wasn't such a good idea to stay in, we are having many problems with our pool and our pool guy isn't exactly the best guy around, we can never get ahold of him when we need him and whenever we want to use the pool there is always a reason we can't. getting very frustrated.
this weekend went by way to fast, i can't believe its already 7pm sunday night. i was supposed to meet my friend nick after my meeting but never could get ahold of him, hopefully we can hook up sometime this week.
heather's birthday is in a week and i have no idea what we are gonna do. we usually go to vegas but this year cameron has a parade that he is gonna be in so that kinda ruin's those plans. i guess we will see what happens.

doctor's visit
i went to the doctor's on tuesday and he changed my medication. i have high blood pressure, well not too high, but it has been consistently high for the past couple of years. since my father passed away at a very young age, 42, of a heart attack (he too had high blood pressure) the doctors have been monitoring me. well i started taking this new medication that he gave me and the first day and a half i felt really bad and wanted to stop taking it but starting last night i felt GREAT better then i have felt in a REALLY long time.
this morning i woke up with out the alarm clock at 5 o'clock and if you know me that is just something i do NOT do. i have actually been to work on time every day this week which is amazing, i have asked heather to kick me out of bed when my alarm goes off so i can't hit snooze 10 times which has been working, but today was different i woke up got out of bed and wasn't even really tired. im not sure how long i will feel like this, but i am sure enjoying it.

50 1st Dates
last night the family and i watched
50 1st dates. i would classify it as a *cute* movie but know where near as good as adam sandler's earlier movies.
happy gillmore and billy madison are great movies that leave you laughing the entire time, where this movie got a few chuckles here and there. seems like lately his movies are getting more and more boring, the water boy and the wedding singer were pretty good but nothing as good as his two first films. maybe because i had just watched dodgeball and was expecting that kinda funny in this movie, but this was just more of a romantic comedy. oh well better luck next time adam.
netflix sent us
interview with a vampire last week since i am on such a kick with anne rice i thought i should see the movie that started all
the vampire chronicles series. the movie was pretty good, but i think i like the books better. i really like the vampire lestat which was tom cruises character, but i didn't care much for louis which was played by brad pitt. can't wait to get my hands on the next book.
i think that netflix has sent us the
breakfast club (
heather's favorite movie) and a
spongebog square pants movie so this weekend should be a fun filled 80s/spongebob weekend, haha. i love spongebob, i think i like him more then my kids do, which is quite sad.

too many kids
Well it's noon, and I can't watch ny soap opera (all my children) because I have too many kids here! My own 3 (10, 6, 4), plus my nephew Tai who is 9 months, Cameron's friend Sergio(7), Cassidy (10) and Allison (10). They are all getting ready to go swimming, which I'm sure will be a nightmare. I hope I live through the day...

who me?
Ten years ago, when I was sixteen, alone and taking care of a brand new baby, I dropped out of high school and it was the last thing on my mind. If you would have told me I would be where I am now, I would have laughed at you and told you I didn't have time for that. We're 10 years, 2 more kids and countless heartbreaks and stumbles later, and I am not even recognizable from my former self, and still I find myself in disbeleif. Last week I got a letter telling me I am going to be on the National Dean's List, and I wondered, don't they know who I am? Don't they know I was that 16 year old mom that dropped out? Am I supposed to have this. I guess it's time for me to take a closer look at who I am now, not who I was then...
In other news, father's day was ok, the kids did not listen at all. We went to the LaBrea Tar Pits, and LACMA. Chris liked his present though, which is good. Finished the Song of Susannah and also The Taking by Dean Koontz. Tomorrow I will start Needful Things, another King novel. Today will be dedicated to cleaning.

weekend
this weekend sure has been a wild one. friday night was pats 50th birthday he had about 220 of his closet friends at his house. heather and i went for a little bit but did not stay for more then 2 hours, i was still feeling under the weather.
heather and i went to see
dodgeball and that was about the funniest movie i have seen since
zoolander. heather and i felt like the oldest people in the audience though, this was the first time in a LONG time we had gone to the movies opening weekend. i have never seen so many 15 year olds in one place, we really felt out of place. the only thing i can say is i am so glad i am not 15 anymore.
today is fathers day, and was able to sleep in for the first time in a long time, it was wonderful. heather and i finally got up about 11:30. i was then treated to some WONDERFUL presents, i got a *chip off the old block* present from cameron, which was a picture of him wearing my clothes glued to a piece of a block. very cute. and vicky gave me a beautiful picture she drew of a palm tree a waterfall and a house, all my favorite things. then came the big present, a
sony cybershot digital camera. this thing is so awesome, it creates 5.0 megamixel pictures! nuf said.
after we all got dressed i for some unknown reason decided we should all go to the
la brea tarpits and art museum. we had a pretty good time but the kids really acted up, never wanting to listen or behave. we practically got kicked out of the art museum cause joey was walking on the art. finally came home and now am ready for some relaxtion in front of the tv.

being sick sux!
i'll tell you being sick really sucks... since tuesday night i have been really sick, have only turned my computer on a couple of times to check email or to fix the occasional fire that happened at work. today is the first day that i really have surfed the web since tuesday, and time sure doesn't stop. the lakers are no more, everybody has either quit or wants out of their contract. unbelievable, but typical. they never really acted like a team and the series against detroit just proved it. i am looking forward to kobe leaving LA, i hope that shaq can work things out and stay, but i am sick and tired of kobe's bullsh*t. i guess we will find out more in the coming weeks but it sure is gonna suck not to see phil courtside anymore.

vacation/what is life?
Why is it that before summer vacation, I have all these grand ideas and plans, we're going to go all of these places and have all of this fun, but somehow, by like, the 3rd day of vacation, I just want to sleep. And if, by some chance, I wake up and want to do somewhere, they ALWAYS ruin it, They seem inable to behave for more than 15 minutes at a stretch. Finished the Song of Susannah, can't wait for the next one, I think it comes out in November. This is a truly awesome series, and while some elements are definitely typical Stephen King, this isn't at all what you expect of a Stephen King book. (Actually series, it's the Dark Tower Series, aka Gunslinger series) I guarantee you, at the very least, you will begin to wonder about life, kinda like what the Matrix did. I often times wonder about life, and how much of it is state of mind. Could we be someone's dream? Do our stories and dreams know they aren't real, could they exist in some other place? What if my whole life is some elaborate dream, and I will wake to find myself in an entire different time and place? Yeah yeah, I'm a freak. But think about it for a second, why don't you....

a living trust
every month our company has a lunch meeting where they bring in an outside consultant and discusses various topics. this months meeting was rather interesting as it dealt with wills and trusts. the consultant brought in an attorney friend of his who specializes in trusts and wills. i knew what a will was, basically a document that said who got what when i died, but did not have any idea what a trust was. after the meeting i came to the conclusion that i need a trust and need to set it up sooner then later.
a will is for someone who basically has kids and property less that $100k. wills are easier to setup and does not cost very much, somewhere in the range of $250-$500. the problem with a will is it can be very timely before your beneficiaries receive what you give to them, according to the lawyer it could take up to 2 years. the other problem with a will is it can be very expensive, the lawyer takes 10% of the gross amount of the estate. another problem with a will is its a public document once you die. anybody can go down to the court house and get a copy of where you used to live and all your assests, leaving it very easy for a theif to come rob your house.
on the other hand a trust is usually much more expensive up front usually around $1500 to setup for a fairly simple one. the advantages are much greater though, first and most importantly your beneficiaries will receive what you have given to them within weeks, not years. and their is no cost to a lawyer for probate. this is also a private document so nobody can get a hold of what it is you own. a trust is for someone who owns a home or has assets greater then $100k and it protects the kids as well allowing the trustee to name the guardians.
so now in the next couple of months i will be setting up an appointment with the lawyer so heather and i can create our living trust. fun stuff i tell ya

Little Girls
Well the party is over, th elast one went home at 11 am, an hour late. The girls had a good time, we went swimming, watched movies, did makeup, danced to music videos... We only had one incident, which is amazing considering the children I am dealing with. Glad to have it over, now I can get to the important summer business of rest and relaxation.

a day of work
today woke up at 7am took a shower then headed over to my moms house with the boys. mom needed me to help out with one of her agents computers, so we headed down to laguna beach. while i fixed the computers and network she took the boys down to the beach. to their luck they arrived right when
animal services were releasing two seals into the ocean. they were in awe. after that they found a friend and started digging for
sand crabs, they found a lot!
back at the office i tried to figure out the mess they made. there were 4 computers that all had viruses. only one of the computers had XP with all the updates installed on them. after about 5 hours of updating and patching the systems i got all of them working except one laptop. by this time the kids had made it back from the beach and were ready to go. so i took the laptop with me and as i type this i am backing up the entire system of the laptop and am going to do a fresh install of winxp. lucky me :)
heather and vicky spent all day cleaning and stressing over her vickys slumber party this evening. they got everything ready and from what i have heard so far are having a good time. heathers sister and sisters friend came over to keep heater entertained but i do not think they are doing a good job, i just got an IM from heather saying she is bored. oh well better her then me, heehee...
the boys and i are now at grammas house, we have played baseball, played kick back and ordered pizza. they have now settled down to watch daddy day care while i finish working on this laptop. its been a LONG day, hopefully they will fall asleep soon so i can get some rest too.

Party
The house is now as ready as it will be getting. Vicky and Cassidy, who were supposed to be cleaning, were instead chatting and drinking sodas with the vacuum on so I would hear it and think they were vacuuming. Grrr... waiting now for my sister, who wants to come early and work on her wedding, and Kiana. who is coming to help Vicky do her hair. I hope that tomorrow morning when the extra 8 girls go home I will still be alive and able to speak coherently. Ah, the life of a (psychopathic) mother...

books
For as long as I can remember, reading has been my rememdy (along with eating) for everything. When I am happy, tired, sad, bored... I read, and eat. I had quite a time getting to sleep last night, and tired as I am, could not get back to sleep this morning, so in that space of 3 hours or so I finished the remaining 450 pages of Harry Potter book 5. As I have quite a bit to do this next few days I doubt I will get too much reading done, but Chris, love of my life, knowing how much I adore Stephen King's Dark Tower series, found out that book 6 was just released and bought it for me. So I have that to look forward to.

mornings
I hate mornings. I woke up this morning at 7:08 to the satisfied smile of my 10 year old daughter saying mom, WE'RE LATE! Right she was, late, a little... well, maybe 40 minutes late, but that's ok because we still have till 7:35, we can do this. Enter carpool neighbor, who calls at 7:15 and says I need them in 5 minutes, I have to make a stop. SHIT. My tooth is hurting like crazy, and I am rushing around trying to make sure they have everything they need for school, and Cam says oops. That oops turns out to be his bowl of cereal flowing across my counter and cascading off onto the floor. Yeah, oops. All said, they left when they needed to, dressed, fed, and only 1 who didn't brush his teeth. I hate mornings.

koi fish
Up until three days ago i didn't realize anybody beyond the
honolulu airport and various hawaiian hotels had koi ponds. my uncles house is basically like a tropical garden, something you would see in hawaii not in orange county. i never would have believed he too would have a
koi pond. over the weekend he had 14 koi fish delivered into his koi pond. it really is amazing, completing the theme of his house. after doing a quick search in google even
disneyland has a koi pond.
apparently koi fish are extremely popular, and they even have
koi shows where you can win *grand champion*, *best young*, *jumbo*, *most unique* and the *friendship award*. not really sure what requirements it takes for your fish to win the *friendship award*, i guess if it bites another fish you are out of the running? well i never would have thought koi ponds and fish would be so exciting maybe this will become an olympic sport? haha, ok, i think i have spent way to much time reading about koi fish, i guess i should get back to work.

harry potter
Apparently we have been neglectful. We have abandoned writing in the blog... I'm sure this is due to how very little is happening in our lives right now. In the past 2 weeks I have read the first 4 Harray Potter books over again, in honor of Prisoner of Azkaban coming out. Right now I am about 200 pages into the 5th, which is about 900 pages long. Tonight we will go to see the movie. This is the last week of school for the kids, which I am part dreading and part looking forward to, because while this means I can sleep, it also means I must deal with fighting for the next 5 weeks on a constant basis. Ah, the life of a mother.

spring fling
oh to be 6 years old again... today cameron had his *spring fling* at school. this consisted of a few carnival rides (hoop the cola bottle, ring the candy, to name a few) also had a couple of big bounce houses. i swear these kids have all the coolest things! after joseph played every game 6 times and bounced himself crazy i decided to come home and let the older ones, vicky, cameron and heather to still play.
joey is now watching the fairly odd parents on nickelodean and i am sitting down to read my new book. i finished
memnoch the devil finally after not being able to read for the past couple of days. the book was great, can't wait to read the next one in the series,
The Vampire Armand
to take a break from vampires i decided my next book would be one of dean koontz's latest
odd thomas so far i have gotten through the first chapter. my plan was to read ALL weekend, but heather is going out tomorrow night with her sister and her husband is coming to hang out over here, so i doubt i will get through to much. we'll see. i really am on a reading kick, its quite fun! my goal is to try to read at least one book per month, hopefully i can do it!

kids are good for something
Seems we have a lucky knack, tuesday we went to Tony Roma's and it was kids eat free day, and yesterday we went to El Torito, kids eat free day. Almost like paying for a date and then there are these 3 short people there...
Also went to this magnificent park yesterday, half wilderness with a huge lake, which is rare out here, (wilderness). The kids rode their bikes around, and I, bikeless, rode my skates. Stupid. Tripped over my laces and promptly fell, my right kneecap is now just a bruise. That hurts. All in all I think we had a great evening. Check out the pics in our gallery.

Second Chances
A testament to my husbands love of our daughter- he granted an extremely rare second chance to her best friend who happened to get on the bad side by behaving very, um, bratty. But she was invited to birthday dinner and behaved well, Victoria had a great time, and we all had ribs, yummy. I have to best husband ever.

Today is Vicky's 10th birthday, I cannot believe it! I just can not possibly have a 10 year old! I am so not ready for this double digit crap, it comes with the double digit attitude, which sadly she has had for quite some time... maybe we can share clothes soon... Sent her off to school with 34 homemade cupcakes, chocolate and white, at her demand... ah, here we go...
