new years eve

well the day has finally come. its pouring rain like you wouldn't believe. i wish it was 9:30 and i was in the club listening to tiesto spin. i can't deal with all the crap before hand, work is too much today, the rain is too much today but tonight in the end it will all be worth it.

New years letter

Happy New Years Eve. It's hard to believe that 2005 is upon us already. I was just getting used to 2004! In grade school everything we heard or read about the "20's" (as in 2004) was very futuristic. Flying cars, colonies on the moon, etc. We may not have come that far yet, but for me, personally, life has made many changes in just the past year.

Chris and I are stronger than ever. I have truly been blessed to find a man who is so kind and giving and truly loves me, through thick and thin, better and worse. He is my everything, my best friend, my support, my off button. He is the only one who I can be 100% honest with, 100% of the time. I am proud to be his wife; proud to have spent 8 wonderful years with him, and more than happy to begin the new year with him.

This past year, I also graduated from college with a 3.9 GPA, honors, Phi Theta Kappa, National Dean's List, and was chosen to be a National Scholar Laureate. This was a huge accomplishment for me, as many things happened during the course of my education that could easily have deterred me, including my seperation and the death of my father. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner so that my father could have seen me graduate.

We've had trips to every amusement park in S. Cali, sleepovers at Seaworld, trips to Vegas, trips to Hawaii, trips to Big Bear. We had amazing times and amazing experiences. In Hawaii we snorkeled, in Big Bear we skiied. My children (and I) are living a life I never imagined, one I thought as a child was attainable only to the rich and famous.

Victoria is 10 now, and is busy with girl scouts and basketball. She is doing much better in school this semester, and has been working hard over the past year to bring her grades up. It's hard for me, her being 10, because she's like a teenager already, and I am barely out of that myself. When I look at her I see my little 5 year old smiling though the gaps of her teeth, but that child is no more.

Cameron is 7 and this past year has brought about great changes in his behavior at school. No more being sent to the principals office! YAY! He is in cubscouts and just finished soccer, which he loved. We have basketball and little league starting in a few months. He is my sports guy.

Joey is 5, and will start K in July. The new year brings little league for my "baby" as well. This past year Joey has emerged from his baby image as quite the little man, no matter how hard I tried to hold on to the baby. He is also exploding his brain at school, learning all if his continents, spanish, sign language and more.

This past year we also added 2 new members of the family. We welcomed Spike and Puffy, 2 bearded dragons, to join our Iguana Iggy who is still mean as ever.

LAST THING: my resolutions for the new year. To myself- I will stop eating b/c I'm bored, I will work out, I will lose 15 pounds, I will learn to say NO. To Chris- I will be more vocal when I need something instead of expecting you to do it and being pissed when you don't. I will try to have a friendly environment for you to come home to after work. (No kids fighting, clean house, etc/) To the kids- I will be more patient and understanding, I will yell less, but sorry, you DO need to clean. :)

That's it, that's the end! Happy 2005, may it be healthy, happy, and prosperous.

A Brighter Day

Both figuratively and literally. The sun is shining (for now), I can walk on my toe, my neck moves (albeit somewhat jerkily). Took all the ornaments off the tree so we can toss it, it's so dead. It's gonna be 2005, I cannot believe it! Stay tuned for a new year letter. :)

dammit I'm going even if I'm in a wheelchair!

Being the ever so graceful goddess that I am, last night I tripped over one of the weights on my bedroom floor, smashing my toe to bits in the process, or at least it felt like it. Why were the weights on the floor you ask? Well that's simple. Because yesterday, I decided to lose 10 pounds by friday. And so I jump-roped till my lungs burned, then did like 500 sit ups, regular and backwards, then I danced, then I did um, 30 pushups, which felt like 500 to me. And the weight, it was there because it never got put away. A long time ago. SO....

I wake up this morning sore as a mother from all the excersize, and my toe is swollen double, black and blue. I thought it was broken, but now I can wiggle it so I think not. So I roll over to get out of bed and hear this ping noise in my head... MY FRIGGIN NECK PINCHED! And is still pinched. Can't tilt it back or turn it to the left. Note to body: It's 2 days to NYE and I AM going to see Tiesto, gtf over it already, HEAL! Jesus commands it. Or at least I do.

On the bright side, I also got a thing for christmas that sounds very much like a stripper. It's a Cocoa Latte machine. (Hello, I'm cocoa latte, wanna play?) Anyways, much to my disappointment, it was not a stripper. It does, however, make kickass chai latte's, mocha latte's, and hot cocoa. mmmm. So I am sitting, foot up, neck stiff, drinking lots of caffeinated stuff. Ah, the life.

UPDATE: A similar post on a blog I read, her name is also Heather... is there a cospiracy against Heathers having a good NYE??? Dooce.com

5 minute french toast

One of the gifts I got for Christmas was a griddle, and I LOVE this thing. With 5 people to feed, making grilled cheese sandwiches or pancakes or whatever was a pain in the ass, it's cold before you eat deal. This morning I made french toast, and had 8 pieces done in 5 minutes, at the same time. Awesome! Ya, I know, the dumbest things excite me, but hey, I am a mother of 3, I have no life.

Holidays are over

Well it wouldn't have been a holiday without drama over here, so I got it. Christmas Eve, Cam woke up screaming his ear hurt, so I packed him up, took Vicky to Angelique's, and headed over to the urgent care with Cam and Joe. (Chris was shopping with his mom). After waiting in line for about 30 minutes just to sign in, and being told the wait was about 3 hours, I was told they would not see him because his insurance has been deactivated. WTF?? So I threw a fit, threw the paper at her, and then pen, and took Cam to the emergency room. Wow what a difference. There was no wait, and they were so nice. Within 30 minutes we were gone. Chris and his mom had also come down to help me out, so that was very nice. End result: 100 dollars spent to be told he has a viral infection and both an external and middle ear infections, and another 55 spent on zithromaz, ear drops, and tylenol 3. Well worth it though, as he was much better Christmas morning.

After that the day went rather well, mostly calm and nice, and Christmas morning we opened presents, with the children getting everything in their lists and more. They were, of course, very excited. Chris got me a new laptop among other things, very exciting, and Molly got us all annual passes to Disneyland. We all made out this year like bandits. My sister and her family and Molly came over Christmas day, and we had dinner and watched Elf and King Arthur and had a good time.

Yesterday was Chris' family's annual Christmas party and gift exchange. There were about 40 of us gathered for a catered dinner and gifts. It was really nice, everyone seemed to be in good spirits and the kids had a blast.

As much fun as all of this was, it also brought inevitable stress, so I am glad it's over. Next up Chris and I go to see Tiesto on New Years Eve, this friday, my God I can't believe it! That promises to be very exciting, and we are very much looking forward to it! Chris already posted his New Year Letter, but I think I will wait a bit. Hope you all had Merry, love and family filled holidays.

goodbye 2004

wow, i can't believe the year is already over. it seems like yesterday it was january 2004 and now its going to be 2005. its going to be REAL hard getting used to writing 2005 since i never really got used to 2004.

this year has been a great year. heather and i are doing awesome, we are both extremely happy with one another. well i am really happy with her, can't speak for her but i think things are the best they ever have been with us. we've had some really exciting times this past year, the top of the list has to be our trip to hawaii though. are trip to big bear was a lot of fun as well. although our upcoming night out may rival that ;) we are very much in love and i am extremely proud that she is my wife.

heather graduated from college this year. with high honors. she did an awesome job especially since the years before were so hard, she was able to push through and got the job done. to do it with high honors is just unbelievable! everyday she gets offers to all these universities wanting her to come there.

the kids have had an exciting year as well. vicky is doing much better in school now, on her last report card she had all a's and b's which is far different then the report card she had before, we won't mention the grades on that... she also started playing basketball and is very excited. cameron is doing very well in school. he also got to play soccer this year for the first time and loved it. he is very good at it as well. he is signed up for basketball which starts in january. joey started preschool this year and is making tons of friends. he also signed up for t-ball and can't wait for it to start. all in all i think the kids had a wonderful year as well.

work has been good for me this year. lots of exciting changes took place. i finally got our software package up and running for our customers and it has been highly successful. lots of in house programs have been modified and have made work a lot easier for a lot of the employee's here.

i started blogging this year and its kind of neat to be able to go back and look through a lot of my old posts. lots of things have happened that i pretty much forgot but they are all here with pictures and everything! i can't wait to see what happens next year.

happy new year!

merry christmas eve

the morning started about 5am with cameron crawling in bed in agonizing pain of an earache. not knowing what to do i rubbed his ear and head and he fell asleep for an hour then woke up again. great, what a way to start christmas eve. we finally got up around 8 and got ready. i had to do some last minute christmas shopping so heather got elected to take cameron to the doctor.

urgent care was open till 2 so they got going as soon as possible. i headed out not to long after them. within an hour i got a frantic call. the doctor has refused to see cameron, there is a problem with our insurance. WHAT!?!?! i called the doctor and they said his insurance was cancelled in august. what the FUCK!? not knowing what to do i tell heather to take him to the emergency room. i tried to call my insurance company and of course they are closed, so i call the doctor back. ask them to look up my name and see if that is still active. she said yes no problem at all. so i ask the next logical question, how do you cancel a 7 year olds insurance policy when he doesn't even have one, he is just a dependent on mine. if anybody should be "de-activated" shouldn't it be the subscriber? the one who pays each month!? she said yes it made no sense and that she was sorry but there was nothing she could do. thank you very much, merry christmas, biatch.

as luck should have it the emergency room turned out to be the better choice anyways. the waiting room at the urgent care by the time heather got there it was a 3 hour wait. not knowing what to do i went to the emergency room to meet them there but when i got there they were already in seeing the doctor. now that is service, i hung out for a minute and they came out. all in all it cost $100 instead of the $20 copay but it was $100 well spent. the doctor was awesome the nurse was extremely friendly. now that is service!

so i went back to shopping and heather and the kids went off to fill prescriptions and get back home. there is nothing like shopping on christmas eve. there are tons of people EVERYWHERE, nobody knows how to drive and pretty much everybody is rude. where's the christmas spirit?? oh well, i think i got everything done so now i am home and we are trying to clean up. we are listening to a bing crosby christmas and starting to get in the spirit! the kids just sprinkled the reindeer food all over the yard so now santa won't miss our house.

oh i forgot the best thing about the doctor. the doctor said the best thing to do for the kids and santa claus is to give them benedryl. can you believe it? hahahaha, perfect!!

southcoast plaza

If you are ever going to go to the southcoast mall you need to take my mom. She totally got me lost took me in dark alleys and scared me half to death. But we made it to the car and she knew where we were at all times. Purely amazing!

With only 2 days till Christmas my true love gave to me....

Nothing idiots, I just said Christmas is in 2 days! And so I find myself home watching Will & Grace. Chris is out shopping with his mom, playing with his new Blackberry. Vicky and her friend Angelique, who is spending the night, are playing nintendo. Cameron, who fought with Nicky all afternoon and then got sick when Nicky went home, is walking in restless circles around the house. Joey is upstairs playing X-box. It is an idyllic Eve of Christmas Eve. of eve. err, of Jesus. um, never mind.

I did just read The Littlest Angel to my boys, which is one of my favorite stories. Joey got bored because it was too long, and Cam teased me because I was "about to cry". Fine, I will keep my Chritmas Eve eve spirit to myself.

nextel blackberry setup

for the past three days i have been trying to setup our new nextel blackberry phones. finally at 7 this morning i got it up and running properly. in order to get the phones to properly work we had to install a piece of software on the server in which my nextel sales guy promised would be very simple, ha!

i got the blackberry's on tuesday, thinking it would be pretty simple i sat down opened them up and started installing. the directions didn't make much sense but i got through them ok. everything was installed and supposedly working but i could not get the phone to interact with the server at all. so thinking i did something wrong i uninstalled and reinstalled everything. nothing worked. finally giving up i called it a day.

the following day i emailed my sales guy and he proceeded to tell me that i had to just be patient and it would work, but i didn't buy that and finally he got his tech person on the phone. after he couldn't figure it out the tech got another tech on the phone. after about 3 hours she proceeds to tell me i installed it wrong the new user you create can not be an administrator. bullshit i say but she is insistent. i open the directions and sure enough that is what the directions say. she tells me i have to uninstall and create the user correctly and reinstall. she was really upset that we wasted all this time and i didn't follow the directions.

so now its 6 o'clock and i am pissed, i go home and not being able to get it out of my mind, i start working at it again. still not convinced that the user can not be an admin i do as the directions tell me step by step. very cumbersome let me tell you. finally i get the user created and i go to install the software and just as i thought you can not install an application like this unless you are an admin. duh! so now i am really upset and can not figure it out. so its 11pm and i am tired and pissed so i call it a night. did i mention i was pissed... oh you don't know the half of it!

in the morning i had an idea, i remember reading somewhere that mdac needed to be version 2.8. i skipped over this step originally because in the book it was under the section of the database, since i was using sql server 2000 and not a local msde install i thought i could just skip that secion entirely. after downloading the latest version of mdac magically everything worked! finally, this is how it should have worked two days ago. now i am kinda pissed because i know i am not the only one that has this configuration with these blackberry's there is no way i should have been on the phone for 4 hours and in that process for the tech to tell me the user can not be an administrator. thats just completely unacceptable. oh well its all working now thank god cause it was a pain in the ass!

anybody out there that is trying to install the blackberry manager for exchange and is having problems let me know, i am an expert now!

home

We got home yesterday about 2, bringing the Macis' youngest with us and leaving Vicky with them. They skiied for like 6 hours, and Vic had a blast. The rest of us had skiied earlier in the day. Noone in my family had ever skiied before, and man is it a workout. Chris and I had a blast, but when you fall on skis, it's very difficult to get up. We went down the bunny slopes, but still kept falling. Vicky, on the other hand, had no such problems.

We had an incredible time, and we are looking forward to doing this next year as well. But so glad to be home.

big bear, day 4 - the final day

our final day started with the alarm blaring at 6:30am. we got up, packed and then headed to snow valley for our very first skiing trip. when we finally got there, i was nervous, very nervous. we got our equipment and then headed over to drop the kids off at their lesson. afterwards heather and i went to the bottom of the bunny hill and put on our ski's.

after much of a hassle we both got them on and we were both still standing. we sloshed around a bit and finally got the nerve up to go to the lifts. heather befriended a nice guy to teach her how to get on and off the lift. i was not so lucky, i couldn’t find a snowbunny anywhere, so i followed behind them. now i never liked the ride skyway to tomorrowland at disneyland that got closed a while back and these lifts was that ride times 100. anyways i get in line and after heather and her new friend go up i get up to the lift and get scooted away. not to bad, the ride was long and we kept getting higher and higher. finally we get to the top and not quite sure i know what to do my ski's touch the snow and i get pushed down a little hill and amazingly enough i didn't fall.

so now heather and i are at the top of the mountain and neither one of us are quite sure what to do. we both were wishing we were with the kids in the kiddyland learning how to do pizza slices. finally we work up the nerve and pushed over the top and we were off. very slowly going to one side not knowing how to turn we did figure out the pizza slice and how to stop. after much work we turned to the other side and were doing pretty good until i lost my balance and fell on my ass. as i fell my boot unhinged out of the ski which is prolly a good thing otherwise i would have a broken ankle. now this is the hardest part, trying to put a ski on level land was hard enough but to do it on the hill was even harder, yes I know it was the bunnyhill but it was still VERY difficult. finally after i got back up, heather thought it would be good for her to learn how to get up to show me how to do it.

it seemed like it took about an hour to get down the hill and by the time we finished you would have thought we ran a marathon. we went down a couple of more times each time we got better and better. next time i think we will try snowboarding. even though they say skiing is easier i think snowboarding would be easier, if you want to stop all you have to do is fall on your butt and i had that part down!

the kids were awesome, i really only got to see joey go down and he was really good. i got some video of him that i will post later. the only one that freaked out was cameron. when i talked to the instructors they said he was doing really well, he just got freaked out when they tried to take him up on the lift. poor guy couldn't handle it and i understand why. maybe next time we will be able to get him up.

we are now home. we have LOTS of shopping left to do. the trip was incredible. it was a lot of fun having friends with us, we all had lots of fun. as we left we promised to make this an annual party for us all.

big bear, day 3

the altitude is finally getting the best of joey, he woke up really early this morning with a terrible earache. laying in bed with us we tried to get him to calm down and relax. after about an hour of screaming and yelling his ear finally popped and everything was normal again. poor guy doesn't now what is going on with him. vicky is having problems with the altitude as well. her nose keeps bleeding. i don't know what i am going to do with my kids.

on a different note, i think i an turning into a pyro maniac. i am obsessed with the fire. now that i got it going i want to keep it going, we are running out of wood to burn so i may have to start burning the trash or the kids clothes to keep it blazing. i have so many problems as everybody knows, this is just one more thing add to the LONG list.

we decided to go check out snow summit and nick thought it would be a good idea to buy us all tickets. now none of us have EVER skied... nick and michelle are the only ones so tomorrow when we should be making our way down the mountain we will be learning how to ski. very scary for all of us. if i don't come out dead or with out a broken leg things will be good. shall make for an interesting day this is for sure.

we are all at home now and its about 8:30. tomorrow we need to wake up very early to get ready for what will for sure to be a long day. i did not want to go skiing. yes it will be very fun and after tomorrow i am sure i will write a great story about how much fun we all had but until then i will be very nervous and very freaked out!

Day 2

The Macis' got here about 9 last night and while Michelle had a migrain and went to bed, Nick and the kids stopped by for a little while. We had some drinks and hung out and then went to bed about midnight.

The kids woke up about 5 am and were sent back to bed, we got up about 8 and got ready for the day. Bought Joey some gloves, which he lost within 2 hours, and then spent the day in the 2 cabins, drinking more and hanging out with the Macis'. At 5 we went to the sledding slopes, where the Macis' treated, and the kids all had a blast. (So did the adults). Then we were off to dinner at Cowboy Express, where the Macis' treated again. Aren't we spoiled? On the way home, Joey threw up, same time as he did last night. I think the altitude is messing with him; Vicky is getting bloody noses. Just getting ready for bed now, so we can have a good time tomorrow, rested.

big bear, day 2

today started about 5:30am with vicky wanting breakfast. yes i know this is very typical except she went to bed at midnight, which is not typical. afterwards we got up about 7:45 to get ready for the day. we all had breakfast took showers and headed out to kmart to get joey some gloves. on the way out we stopped by the macis' house to see if they needed anything... they finally made it up last night about 9:30p or so. nick and the kids came over while michelle had a huge headache and went to bed. smart girl. anyways we went to kmart got our stuff and made it back home.

the afternoon was spent between both our cabins with drinks and food. lots of fun, about 5:30 we headed to the alpine mountain to go sledding. as soon as we pulled up joey freaked out. this is the same place we were last year when he and i went down the hill in the inner tube and rolled over 3 or 4 times. that was the first and last time we did it. finally got him to the top of the hill and after the first time down he was hooked! come on dad, come dad he would scream as we went back up the hill time and time again. we all had a great time! about 9:00p we headed out to the cowboy express restaurant (i forget the name of the place i know it has cowboy in it, i will look it up later i am way to tired right now). after they finally sat us down we had a good dinner. the food was so good on the way home joey decided to throw up all over himself to save it for later.

now we are home, cameron and vicky are both upstairs asleep. joey and i just got out of the shower cleaning all the throw up and stuff out of his hair, while heather is trying to clean out his clothes. fun stuff i tell ya!

oh finally got the fire started. yes i know, i still can't believe it. the problem, wet wood. no matter how many books and magazines you burn if the wood is wet its just not going to catch on fire. i almost resorted to throwing in the kitchen furniture but i held back.

We're in Big Bear

And I didn't pee my pants. We left at about 11, and went up the 330 to the 18, where we saw a sign saying 18 closed, use alternate route, but there were no signs telling us where the alternate route WAS, so we kept going, assuming it was coming up. WRONG! We got almost all the way up and then were stopped and told the alternate route was all the way back down off the 1o. Nice. So we went all the way back and up the back side of the mountain which is the 38. Well for about 50 miles there are no stops, and we got caught behind a slow ass truck. By the time we got here, I had to pee so bad I was in tears. Damn venti mocha. Tip: don't drink on the way up the 38.

Anyways, we're here now, it's about 50 degrees. We ate and went to the store, and now we are just waiting for the Macis' to get here.

big bear, day 1

well we finally made it! it only took us 4 hours. we drove up the mountain the regular way, there was a couple of signs saying route 18 was closed and use an alt route but they sign made it seem like it was going to give us a detour (never did it say, TURN AROUND MORONS, YOU ARE GOING THE WRONG WAY). we finally made it to the top and was greeted by cal trans telling us to turn around. the alt route to big bear was to go all the way back down the mountain get back on the freeway and go 10 miles up the road to hwy 38. hwy 38 is the LONG way to big bear, up the back of the mountain. of course we got stuck behind a big dump truck that went 30 mph the entire way.

we finally made it to our little cabin. it is actually really nice, small but not too small. there is a loft upstairs with two king size beds and a queen size bed in the downstairs bedroom. right outside the cabin is a playground so the kids are excited. to bad for the neighbors cause our kids are LOUD!. we are all starving now so once we unpack i think we are going to explore and see what there is to eat. our friends haven't gotten here yet, they didn't leave until 1 or so, so who knows when they will show up.

[update: ok, i am an idiot. i can not start a fire, i have tried and tried and the log just won't catch on fire. i have burned an entire fucking magazine page by page and still i got nothing. i should have payed better attention in cubscouts i guess but this is just ridiculous. and now everybody is freezing and resorted to putting on every single article of clothing they brought.]

christmas shopping

last night before shopping with mom we put the christmas ornaments up. this year was a lot of fun. no fighting or bickering went on, very festive. i forgot my stupid camera today so i haven't yet had a chance to post the pictures, they will come later tonight.

afterwards, mom and i headed to costco. shopped there for a while then went to the brea mall. that mall just sux, they have nothing cool there at all. afterwards, we decided to drive back to kohls, which is right next to costco (yes i know we sure know how to save gas). shopped there for a minute, found out they had nothing that we needed, then decided to go to the main place mall. mom and i had a good time although i think i got on her nerves quite often. for some reason she kept running away from me.

got home about 11:30 and was completely wired on the double espresso i decided to get at nordstrom's about 9 o'clock. boy heather was NOT happy, let me tell you. i wanted to play and show her what i bought her but for some reason she wanted to sleep. what the fuck? its 11:30 at night... what’s the harm in playing with me for a half hour, getting up at 5a means you get 5 hours asleep which is WAY more then the average person needs, right? sorry baby, i love you.

[update: here are the pictures from last night.]

The tree

Tonight we decorated the tree, and I tell you, it's so nice and festive to have a tree in the house. It's beautiful and looking at it makes you feel good and puts you in the Christmas spirit. Pics will come as soon as they're uploaded. Chris and his mom are now out shopping, and I am just in an all around good mood. n Christmas is coming, and I'm glad.

2 more days

we leave for big bear friday morning. this year we are only going for four days. last year we went for the week, through christmas. it was a lot of fun but was a hassle cause all the shopping and everything had to be done a week early. this year we thought we would save the hassle and go up the week before christmas.

i just checked weather.com to see how the weather is going to be. so far it looks like its not going to snow. kind of a bummer, and kind of not. i am a baby when it comes to driving in the snow and have never had to put chains on. so i was getting nervous about that, other then that once we are up there the snow is lots of fun as long as you don't have to drive in it.

we are staying in a cabin that is right around the block from a place called magic mountain. basically its a hill that they put man made snow (if its not snowing) for the kids to go sledding and stuff. we are going with some friends who are staying in a cabin close right down the street from ours. they are talking about going skiing or snowboarding. we have never tried either, so we shall see how that goes. with my luck i will break my leg.

JOANNA SUCKS

Friday night my mom called to tell me my grandmother was in the hospital, possibly in the early stages of a stroke or heart attack. My grandmother has been under alot of stress lately, with 3 of her kids really messing up big time and someone has broken into her house twice; once she had to hide in her tub and dial 911.

So even though it's 2 weeks from Christmas and money is scarce, and even though I had Joey's birthday party, I said I would come. My sisters came out for Joey's party (which was good, he had an awesome time, got some really cool gifts) and we left the party a little early to head out to Vegas.

For whatever reason, my little sister was in a foul mood, was very stoic and snotty, and me and my older sister just tried to be light and play with her. We get there, see my gramma, who seems fine but they are still running tests. We left about 1 am, and Joanna (lil sis) calls her friend who's out there for the cowboy convention or whatever the fuck it is. He gets us a hotel room and takes us out to breakfast, then Naomi and I go to bed and Jo goes out to the bar with him.

She got back about 6 am, and check out was 12. Now Jo knew Naomi and I HAD to be back sunday evening, knew we had kids to get to, and Naomi is 6 mo pregnant. She got up yelling at us for making her get up. My mom called to let us know my grandmother had been discharged, so we planned on going to get breakfast, saying bye to the fam, and getting on our way.

Well. Instead of that, Joanna left us in Las Vegas because we were 'disrespectful to her'. That's what she told my grandmother, she didn't tell us she was leaving us 400 miles from home, she just walked away and disappeared. She also did not tell us there was a problem, and we can't figure out anything we did wrong. And really, how do you justify leaving your 2 sisters, one of whom is 6 months pregnant and has been vomiting all night, 400 miles from home and their 4 kids?? The best we can think of that pissed her off is that she has a Forget the bull, ride a cowboy thing on her car and Naomi asked her how do you like to ride your cowboy? Ya, that definitely justifies such a shady, dirty act.

So anyways, Naomi can't fly and there are no flights for hours anyways, so we go to the greyhound station and wait in line for an hour to buy tix for the 4:55 bus. We get up there and 4:50 and the guy says, sorry, no sales 10 min prior to departure. SO we get to wait on Fremont St. for 2 hours for the NEXT bus, which took 6 hours to get to our destination.

Now I had never ridden a greyhound, and it was pretty much like living in all the ghettos I have ever lived in, which is alot considering I have lived in Watts, East LA, and Fontana. Put the ghetto on the bus, you have the greyhound. We stopped at an Arby's and this kid asks me if I have an extra burger. I ask him if he's hungry and he says yes, so me being the mother I am, I give him 5 bucks to get some food. Hungry? This kid was starved. He gets in line, and PASSES OUT! Fainted dead out in line from hunger.

So we get to our stop at like 12:15, and Naomi's husband picked us up and brought me home. Got home about 1:15 and this morning I went to Vicky's choir performance walking dead with a 5-shot venti mocha in my hand. I have had a lot of drama in my life, but this is pretty damn bad. Jo is gonna pay for this for a long time. She is 24 years old, way too old to be so childish, selfish, dirty and low. I just lost a sister.

vicky's choir performance

this morning vicky and the rest of her 5th grade class had their christmas choir perforamance. it was pretty good but i am not real sure why they do it in the middle of the day. don't they realize its hard for parents who work to get off work at 9 in the morning? maybe they do it on purpose so they don't have to setup a big auditorium for all the parents.

check out the pictures, and i did put some video up there as well, although it is a really big file to download, so i think i may edit it. the pictures aren't very good, the lighting in the cafeteria sux. i tried to touch them up in photoshop but i think i made them worse then better oh well...

oh the joys of the holidays

heather was called to vegas on a "family emergency". come to find out, after they drove for 7 hours it was a false alarm. typical. so now the sisters were supposed to be on their way home but instead one of the sisters decides she is mad at the other two and decides to leave them there. again, typical. heather's youngest sister was the driver got bent out of shape over god knows what and left her oldest sister who is 6 months pregnant and her middle sister, heather who has 3 kids at home, in vegas with no way home. the only plane they could get on was at 10 o'clock tonight so they have decided to get on the bus to save $200. oh you gotta love your family who is supposed to always be there for ya, especially during the holidays.

[update: heather just called, they missed the 5:00 bus to santa ana, even though they have been standing in line for over an hour and the bus is still there. now they are scheduled to get into claremont, yes claremont, at 11:00 tonight. claremont is 45 minutes from anaheim. poor heather, i would have killed somebody by now.]

an evening with the boys

today was joey's birthday party at chuck-e-cheese's, yes i know for the past week i have spelled it 6 different ways. sorry i obviously don't know how to spell, nor do i know where to capitalize or punctuate (i bet you didn't even know i knew that word). i took a test online one time and it basically said i made a bastardization of the english language and should stop speaking or writing it. anyways, the party was lotsa fun. joey scored with a bunch of cool toys!

last night heather's mom called, from vegas, with a family emergency and needed her and her sisters to come out there as soon as possible. after the party they took off leaving me with all the kids, great! well luckily our friends decided to take vicky home with them to spend the night so its just me and the boys. they have opened every single gift joey has gotten, played with each one for 3 minutes and then moved on to the next leaving a trail of trash and ripped up boxes all over the house. i swear these kids have a.d.d. worse then i do... this is going to be a long night, heaven help me.

Happy Birthday Joey

Today is Joey's 5th birthday. I cannot believe my baby is 5. He is going to have cake at school, and then for dinner he chose red robin, and it's his birthday so we will go, even though I got severe food poisoning there. Tomorrow is his night with Gramma, for shopping and fun, and then Saturday is his party at Chuck-E-Cheeses.

Yesterday I told him I was sad he would't be my baby anymore and this is his response: "It's ok mom, I will still be your friend and love you." Long pause. "And cuddle you." Another pause, and a very serious look. "But not at soccer. Or baseball. Not at sports, ok?" If that's not a sure sign my baby is gone, I don't know what it. Happy Birthday Joe.

happy birthday joey

today is my youngest son's 5th birthday. all he wants is the crash twinsanity xbox game. heather said when he woke up he wanted his present RIGHT NOW! cause he was playing twinsanity before he went to school. how does he know he's getting it? its going to be a big disappointment tonight if he gets um lets see, a red wagon or something.

tonight for his birthday dinner he has chosen red robin. why he picked that place we have no idea, i don't think he has ever been there. its heather's least favorite place to go, which i am sure she will share with you, so it should make for an interesting night. saturday is his birthday party at chucki-e-cheese's with all his friends from school.

[update: here is heather's explanation...]

Christmas Spirit

Today my children have perpetuated the spirit of the season and they all wore perfect little gleaming halo's. Cameron's letter to Santa:

Dear Santa,
For Christmas all I want is for all the children who have nothing to have what I have. Please Santa.

This must be the sweetest thing my son has ever said, right out of the blue. I almost cried. There is the spirit touching my family.

snow days

I woke up this morning to find a blizzard raging outside, snow piled 6 feet high and all the schools have called a snow day. Really. OK, not really, but there was a bit of slush on the driveway, 2 piles actually, and it is Southern California. We don't know how to deal with this snow stuff people. And the slush got the same reaction from my kids as real live snow-in snow would have. This is Big Bear readiness 101 people.

Children

OK. If anyone is ever looking for ANYTHING, look in my daughters dresser drawers. That's where the pull-ups go, and brushes, and crayons, and toys and books. But not, of course, her clothes. Those belong on the floor somewhere, preferably hidden and scrunched up. Or down the laundry chute.

Cameron, being grounded was forced to *gasp* read! And somehow, he managed to read, um, 139 pages. In about an hour. I need to ground this kid more often.

And lastly, Joey and his neverending well of comedy, is in the bath tub, washing himself, when out of the blue he exclaims! "There's my M & M's!!" ?!?! wtf? No M&M's, anywhere, although right before he got in he was singing "Guess who's back.... back again?" hahahaha, God my kids are funny.

Christmas Readiness and Santa's List

This year as we sat waiting for the tree, I sat thinking of the reason I was home to welcome the tree instead of just Chris as planned. It was, as santa knows, because my son, my darling doe eyed 7 year old, misobeyed me and behaved like a punk. So instead of going to family reading night and getting cocoa and cookies, we came home to greet the tree. Rather risky behvior considering we are 2 weeks from Christmas, and right now my children are most definitely on the naughty, coal-receiving side of the list. Santa is considering creating a 'skip this house' list. Of course, as my son gets in trouble and realizes he will not be going to this special school function, he morphs into angel child orphan boy with the puppy dog eyes and the genuine hurt and disbelief. For how could I, the evil mother, not give in to this small yet ever important piece of my childs happiness? How could I begrudge him this? How you ask? EASILY. For I my friends, have seen beneath the angelic facade. And while 49 percent of my son is beautiful and sweet, the other 51 percent, like Bush, has won so far.

spyware

i just read an article on wired, Spyware on My Machine? So What?. end users just have no idea how bad spyware actually is. they think installing a program (toolbars that give you smiley faces in your email) here or there and giving up some of their privacy is no big deal well i beg to differ. if you want to give up your privacy thats fine by me, but the bigger issue is having these programs on your corporate network. we have two t-1 lines and for the past 2 weeks have had nothing but bandwidth problems. finally after going to each machine and installing spybot found out each user had at least 100 spyware programs on their computers. 2 t-1 lines is a lot of bandwidth especially for a small company with only 40 users. if you don't mind spyware and want these programs its fine by me just install it at home and don't call me when your computer doesn't function anymore.

Rainy Days and shared addictions

The rain has saved me today from the ever so exciting prospect of picking up trash in a park with a uniformed group of 2nd grade boys. Also, it has spurred Chris to take up my favorite pastime, Sims 2. So now he is obsessed with bedding as many sims as possible, pissing them off right after. He has married his maid and is screwing like 3 other women. When you see his moniker, all is explained. It is nice to know I am not being resented when I play though... this is something we as a married couple can share. It's very meaningful.

rainy days

finally feeling pretty good and actually being able to stay on my feet it has to rain. and not a normal california rain this is the type of rain you have in vermont if its not snowing. now we are stuck in the house with nothing to do. nothing to do except PLAY SIMS2!! woohoo, where i last left off, john phucsalot has now married his maid and she is pregnant. three other sims in pleastantview are still in love with john and keep calling for him. the kids are screaming your a stupid face, your a stupid face. oh wait this is real life, not my simulated life. hmm, they are so close that its hard to tell which is what.

Saturday

This morning I took Vicky for her NJB pics, which was very fast, they were supposed to be there at 12:45 and were actually done by 1, amazing. Little league and soccer you're there for like 45 minutes at least. I dropped her off at her friends party and then headed over to Nixon Library and birthplace with Cameron. I wasn't too interested in going, but actually is was pretty neat. We saw the house he was born in that his father built from a kit (!) and they have a model of the white house with working TV's and all kinds of really neat things. Pics here. We left there when it started raining and came home to get ready for Vicky's first basketball game. Took Allison with us and Vicky's team won 12-4. She did pretty well, but looked confused alot when the couch called out a play. Tried to get some pictures but they all turned out blurry, I need to figure out how to change the shutter speed or something. Tomorrow the cubscouts get to go pick up trash, exciting. Gee, I love weekends, the time to relax.

peaceful afternoon

vicky had basketball pictures today and then a birthday party to go to and cameron and heather had a boyscout field trip to the nixon library. joey and i decided to go to gramma bobbies house. not being able to lay in bed one more minute we headed out. the drive over was not easy, every bump i drove over felt like somebody was kicking me. finally we made it and had a fun relaxing time. haven't had a chance to spend much time with my gramma in the past month so it was good to catch up with her. i think i over did it though, we were there for a couple of hours but my body was telling me that i better get back in bed with an ice pack.

joey and i are now home after stopping at burger king. i am back in bed getting iced up while joey is watching the fairly odd parents, again! oh no, joey just figured out how the tivo works. he keeps rewinding the last 5 minutes over and over and over again. this is going to be a fun afternoon. bleep, bleep, bleep from the tivo is all i hear over and over again.

simple things in life

after not being able to take a shower in 2 days i felt extremely gross. finally, to my wife's excitement, i was able to take a shower this morning. although it was not easy by any means it felt really good. changing my bandages though was a completely different story. imagine having to rip off a bandaid that has glued to your skin for three days... now imagine having to rip that bandaid off in the most sensitive part of your body. fun stuff i tell ya.

Too Long

My supposed to be 1 hour meeting at the cubscouts, to which I had to bring all three kids, lasted for over 2 hours, ending at about 9:20. And only then because he asked if we minded staying to finish another project and I said yes I do it's after 9! THEN all the other parents said, "Yeah, it's kinda late." KINDA?? It's after 9 and our 7 year old sons have been up since 6:30 am; they've been sitting here for over 2 hours. I don't have that attention span, let alone my 2nd grader. So now I am finally home, tired and grumpy but happy to be with Chris and dreading my hell day tomorrow.

frosty the snowman

ok, its pretty sad when you lay in bed all day and you watch nothing but cartoons. especially when your kids aren't even home. heather and the kids are at boyscouts now and i have watched spongebob, fairly odd parents, hey arnold and danny phantom. all the same shows i have watched with my kids 50 times, i could repeat all the words, and still i sit here and watch. now i have switched over to channel 2 to watch one of my favorite shows, joan of arcadia and guess what its not on. frosty the snowman, yes the same frosty the snowman that has been coming on year after year since 1969 is on. what is the deal with cartoons? do they never make new ones? how is it possible that i have seen every single cartoon out there at least 10 times each. oh i am losing lost it, i need to get out of bed before these cartoons rot my brain.

oh i did update my wifes blog. she was sick of it and wanted some things added to it, like pictures and stuff. i used a similar style to mine check it out. oh did i mention i am bored out of my mind? i am going crazy!

oh no, the thermometer is getting red and now frosty is about to melt. they are now putting him on a train to the north pole. hmm, didn't realize you could take a train to the north pole, but then again this is a cartoon and frosty is a man made out of snow, so i am not real sure why i am trying to rationalize this. oh yes i have lost it. and just think i have not taken any drugs at all today, not even asprin. scary

How to go through a vasectomy with your husband

First talk him into it by tring to give him as much time as possible alone with the kids or make sure to call him when they are throwing fits and he is not there. When he finally says he is going to get a vasectomy, be supportive. Drive him to the appointment and feed him the valium prescribed to him. Be indignant when the valium wears off before the damn doctor gets to him. Sit by his side and watch as he is first given a shot in the scrotum and then cut, snipped and cauterized. When he grits his teeth, (because he is big and strong and man and will not say ow! or make any other visible form of concession to pain) remind him how lucky he is that he did not go through hours of pain much worse than this, called labor, with no pain medication, FOUR TIMES. When the doctor pulls out the snipped peices of the vas deferens, ask first, "Is that the deferens?" And then comment that it looks rather like spaghetti. When the acrid smell of burning flesh comes, ask what smells good and then ask if he is hungry. Laugh. Alot. Then take him home and feed him lots of food like turkey sandwiches and banana cream pie. Eat alot yourself so he doesn't feel like a pig. Change his ice pack every couple of hours. And lastly, but so important, tell him his support jock is sexy and he looks like a stripper in it. It really is.

vasectomy notes

some interesting notes on vasectomy. they have been around since the late 19th century though they didn't start out as family planning.

Since the late 19th century. The first published study into the effects of ligating the vas deferens was published in London in 1830. It didn't start out as family planning - it started out as a method of controlling unwanted sections of society such as "Delinquents, degenerates, drug habitues and idiots".

fun at the doctor's

for the next couple of days i will be sitting in bed recuperating. this afternoon i had a very uncomfortable procedure for a man, a vasectomy. we have 3 kids and could not handle another. we have had too many scares so i finally toughened up, bit the bullet and had the procedure today. the doc gave me a prescription for a valium to relax me and told me to take it about an hour before the appointment. the appointment was for noon so as we were driving there i popped it about 11:30. heather and i sat in the waiting room and at 12:15 i was feeling REALLY good. still no sign of them calling me in i walked up to the front desk and asked if they forgot about me. she said no that they were setting up. about 12:30 she finally called us in.

now my doctor's office is run by st joseph's, a catholic hospital that does not allow vasectomies so they had to take us up to the 4th floor where st joe's leases out to a different doctor that is not apart of the church. very weird i know but finally we get up there and they put me in a room ask me to strip down and wait for the doctor. by this time its almost 1 o'clock and the effects of the valium have completely worn off. heather stayed in the room with me to give me moral support which was actually pretty good cause the doctor told her everything i was supposed to do afterwards. as he prep'd me, i felt very awkward. the procedure took all of about 20 minutes. the most uncomfortable part was when he gave me the shot to numb me, i about jumped out of my skin. i am now back at home lying in bed with an ice pack on, which i will be for the next 2-3 days. i have been here for about an hour and am already bored out of my mind. i am sure i will be posting a lot of random things in the next couple of days so be prepared.

christmas gift idea #1

ok i just saw the coolest thing ever. a modern lava lamp called a laserpod. check this thing out its rad! yes i know its geeky but hey, thats me.

The Laserpod, from British lighting firm Plugg, is a sleek, laser-powered lamp that can turn even the most boring room into an ambient make-out zone. Designed by artist Chris Levine and photographer Mario Testino, the lamp projects a constantly morphing constellation of red lights onto the ceiling or into an enclosed dome. A second setting throws a thin blanket of blue light behind the constellation, providing an aurora-like cover under which you can attempt to hit on your best friend's sister.

after about a week of network issues i think they are finally solved. yesterday morning everything came to a head when absolutely nothing worked when i got in. for some unknown reason every website was blocked by our webblocker. we had some huge bottleneck somewhere so i couldn't even connect to the firewall to see what was going on. it was a nightmare. finally after having to plug my computer directly into the firewall was i able to connect to it and fix the corrupted file. after that was fixed the network was still running extremely slow. on a random thought i looked at the back of the router and realized that the light was orange not green. weird that means its running at 10mbps not 100, hmm. i changed the cable out and voila everything is working now. how a cable goes bad without anybody touching it i have no idea but i am glad its all working now. we can all go back to surfing for porn working now, i am a hero for about an hour.

December

Happy December to everyone. Now is when I begin the season of madness. Hope everyone has a semi-sane time attempting to ready for Christmas or whatever holidays you celebrate. If I'm lucky, I'll be ready at about 4 am Christmas morning.
