It's too cold

I know to some people this will sound ridiculous, but it is just way beyond cold for me here at 39 degrees. I don't even own a warm jacket. I live in Southern California for God's sake, sunny, temperate year round Southern Cali, land of the bikini roller bladers. And right now it is 39 degrees outside. And I have no heater in my car. And no jacket. My children are wearing their snow jackets to school. (The ones we bring to Big Bear). Am I gonna wake up tomorrow to snow? At least we are virtually guaranteed snow in the mountains when we head up there in a few weeks; maybe too much. Somebody send me a jacket.

rockin sushi and the speaker junkies

last night heather and i went to see the speaker junkies at quan's rockin sushi, in orange. never had been there before so we didn't really know what to expect. i checked the email and realized that it was hip hop night except for the 30 minute set tom was doing. pretty weird combination i thought but we'll check it out.

we got there about 10:30p, they were supposed to be on around 11:30 so we ordered a couple of beers and just chilled out in the back watching everyone. it was like we were on the tv show the OC, never before have i seen so many fake people in one place in my life. we were the oldest people there by far by at least 8 years. these kids looked like they were 16 not 21 and every single one of them was drunk, including my wife.

after having listen to enough rap that i could take, and being scared that the girl next to me was about to puke all over the place they finally announced the speaker junkies. thank god! we moved up to the front and they rocked the house. listening to their cds give them no justice to how good they are live. this venue was extremely small but after the first song they had the entire place jumping up and down. it was a lot of fun. can't wait to see them again, hopefully real soon. hopefully somewhere that is geared for the techno crowd, for some reason the crowds that hip hop brings is just a totally different vibe then the electronica crowd. everybody at at techno type club is really happy, everybody at a hip hop club has something to prove. must be the difference between alcohol and ecstasy, :)

I'm Drunk

And my husband is awesome. He took me out tonight to see this guy he knows in a group called Speaker Junkies and although the crowd was 7-10 years younger than us, I quickly became inebriated and Speaker Junkies were awesome. Thanks to Callie for sitting for us, lifesaver, and lemme tell ya, it's nice to be able to get out. Had a great time. I tell ya, being married is great. I am so happy to not be in the "looking scene" anymore. To have this loving and strong relationship that I know is there through good and bad. Maturity is a good thing people. As is inebriation. Good Night.

happy thanksgiving

this year we are having thanksgiving at our house for the first time. heather's two sisters and their boyfriends are coming as well. we are really going to miss the rest of the family but thought it was important that we try to do this for ourselves. if its a disaster then we can go to gramma's house next year, if she'll have us :)

so far heather has lost her voice. she hasn't been able to talk for the past two days. hopefully she will get better soon, but it doesn't look good for her. the good thing for the kids is that she can't yell at them, but i think she may explode if she doesn't let out some steam soon. heather and i stayed up real late getting the house clean when our kids decided they should wake up real early and destroy everything we did. pretty typical.

everybody should be here about 1 or so. joey is disappointed he wants to know what thanksgiving is. we tell him its a day to be thankful for what you have and to eat turkey. WHAT!?!?!? no presents!?!? oh i don't like thanksgiving!!! thats what happens in a four year old brain i guess. but i am kinda disappointed there are no presents either, hahaha.

one thing we used to do (because mom forced us) as a family is everyone would go around the table and say what they were thankful for. it was the one thing i hated most about thanksgiving. having to get up in front of 30 people and tell them that you are thankful for this or that. this year i am thankful i don't have to do it, lol. just kidding, since i won't be at gramma's house i will just tell everyone what i am thankful for. i am thankful for my family and that we are all happy, healthy and strong. i am thankful that i have a beautiful awesome wife and three incredible children. i am thankful for my friends and that i have a great job. ok this list can go on and on and can get terribly sappy so i will just say i am thankful that i have such a good life. for everybody that is not here, i love you and miss you.

I believe in angels

I was so preoccupied this afternoon that I got in my car and left my 400 dollar purse in the basket at the grocery store parking lot, just as the high school across the street was letting out. Inside my purse, my 200 dollar wallet with credit cards and cash, my husbands 500 dollar camera, and my checkbook, among other things. I drove all the way home and went to grab my purse when I got out of the car. And then panick set in as I realized what a dumbass I was. So as I drive back at breakneck speed in full tilt panic mode, I tell my dumb ass sellf that I just made some kids holiday... Halfway there Chris calls and says some lady called and left a message saying she found my purse and turned it in to the manager. I'm like yay! Wait. How the hell did she get my number? She must have gone through my purse. Camera has to be gone. Who could resist? I get there, and lo, purse, wallet, camera and all. She didn't leave her name or anything, I absolutely would have given her a reward, just for being one of the few honest, good people left in the world. So instead she'll have to do with me regaling the internet with her story, and my personal little thank you to God for leaving this person in my path on this day. It certainly made my day.

network problems

for a week and half we have been having issues with out internet access. it seems between the hours of 6am and 9:30am our network is at a crawl. almost to the point of it being unusable, almost. not much will stop our workers from searching for porn or anything else that is not work related. anyways, i called our isp last week and they told me that it was just a lot of traffic going in and out of our router, maybe just a lot of people hitting our website. reluctantly i said ok and called to see how much more it would cost to get a ds3 instead of our two t-1 lines. anything i can do to help my people search for porn faster, lol. finding out it would cost over $6,000 a month, that idea got squashed quickly, very quickly!

today fed up that i couldn't even log into my checking account to see how much money i had left i called our isp again. this time i was on hold for about 45 minutes, very odd usually i get a support rep in about 5. when i finally talked to the guy he ran some tests and said one of our t-1 lines was down. well wtf?! why didn't the other guy see that when i called last week? it all makes perfect sense, in the mornings we get slammed with users on the outside checking their inventories and what not and then when they go out into the field about 9:30ish every morning the network speeds up. our isp is sending out a tech to "fix" the problem, i hope its soon, i don't know how much more complaining i can take. when people can't get their fix, no telling what they will do.

an mis director's work is never done

most people work 8-5, not me. i work 6:30ish to 5pm then i come home and after the kids go to bed i do the work that i was unable to do while at work. upgrading the servers and firewalls are impossible to do during the day since that would mean nobody would be able to work. so i get to do it in the middle of the night. its about 10ish right now and i am updating our firewall since it hasn't been updated in a while. checking the firewall site this evening i saw that there has been an update out for awhile so i figure i better update it. its a long process and kinda nerve racking, the last update i did on the firewall rendered it useless, making me spend the rest of the night trying to fix it when after about 12 hours, and no sleep, the company had to send out a new box. i am keeping my fingers crossed, right now its downloading the file very slowly i might add. 52 minutes and counting for a 24.7mb file is a little ridiculous but at least there are some interesting shows on tonight to keep my interest until this damn thing finishes.

after successfully installing the software update i know have to download the new database which is 60mb. now if 24mb took just over an hour to download how long is 60mb going to take to download? damn, why does it have to be this hard? with two t1 lines there's no way it should take this long. doing a few tests shows that my bandwidth is barely being touched so the server that i am downloading this file is running extremely slow. this is just unacceptable. if you are going to have a mandatory 60mb file to be downloaded there is no reason it should be running at 10kbps. come on now. i am going to be up all night at this rate!! why o' why did i start this?

home theater's

in the past two months i have learned more about home theater's then any one person should ever need to know. actually its pretty cool stuff, i never realized how much technology there was in a simple remote control. i had no idea that there were actual computer programs that you could write and then upload to your remote control so one click of a button would function 27 different functions. i never knew that even though the tv only has one power button that by changing some underlying code in the remote control you can turn the power button into an only ON button or only OFF button. why would you want to do that? i am glad you asked.

for the past 2 months i have been putting in a huge home theater in pats house. the final step is programming the remote control and making it user friendly so that anybody can pick up the remote and watch a dvd or watch tv on any tv in the house. of course i can do it, it only takes using 7 different remotes. first check to see if the receiver is on, if its not turn it on. then turn the receiver to dvd then find the tv remote and turn the tv on, if its not on. then find the dvd remote and power it on, etc... seem a little bit confusing? what happens if you loose a remote? finally we bought a universal remote control. not the normal $20 remote you find at k-mart, this thing is ridiculous. i was able to install a software program on my computer and input all the different remotes into this remote one control. i was then able to write a macro that presses all the necessary buttons to turn on the tv, receiver, dvd then presses the play button for you, at the same time it closes the curtains and eventually will dim the lights to the necessary brightness. the hardest thing to figure out was: what if the tv is already on? usually hitting the power button would, if the power was on turn it off. in the macro you would have to assume the tv was off so if it wasn't your whole macro would be screwed cause everything would switch to the right thing but it would turn the tv off. HUGE PROBLEM!! after weeks of frustrating research i finally found out how to do it. there is a "discrete" code that turns the button into an ON button or an OFF button so when you write your macro you can just call the ON button, that way if the tv is already on it wouldn't matter that you hit the on button, but if its off it turns the tv on. this goes for each component you have tv, dvd, receiver, etc. yes its all very confusing but after you get it, and for me it took a LONG time to get, its pretty fucking awesome. now when i am ready to do my house it will be a piece of cake!!

It's when?!?

Holy crap where has the time gone? I cannot beleive it is less then a weekn to Thanksgiving. Which means just over a month to Christmas. And slightly more than that to 2005. 2005?? When I was little, my mom used to say "The older you get, the faster time goes." And I was like, um, whatever. But now I realize how true this was. Time is just zipping by me, messing up my hair and sending me stumbling in it's wake. My 'little ones' are no longer all that little. My 'baby' will be 5 in 2 weeks. Next time I blink, I will have a teenager. Where oh where does time go?

birthday dinner

since last night we were so busy with other things i didn't get to go out for dinner. my birthday dinner was a bagel and cream cheese. do you feel sorry for me yet?? well let me tell you about our adventure tonight.

my mom was insistent that she take me out to dinner. heather's favorite place right now is lucilles so of course this is where we were to go. nobody, except me, believing that their could be any long wait we headed to brea. upon arriving we saw a crowd like you wouldn't believe, we drove around the parking lot before heather threw in the towel and said forget it lets go somewhere else. heather's second favorite place is woodranch, yes i know its my birthday but if she's happy then i am happy. anyways, again i tried to warn that this was saturday night and their would be a long line. no way heather would not accept that so we headed back to anaheim hills. yes i know we like to drive in circles. when we got their the parking lot was completely filled and yes pulling up to the front their was a crowd that rivaled that of lucilles. heather jumped out and asked how long and found out it was about an hour. great, there is no way our kids would be able to contain themselves for an hour so we decided to go to chevy's. thank god chevy's is in the same place and their was no wait. food was good and now we are finally home.

Dinner

After driving all over because all the restaurants had hour long waits, Molly took us to dinner at Chevy's for Chris' birthday. The kids all got some tortilla dough, and we got home Joey said, "Dad, I can't beleive you didn'y notice I put my dough in you'r pocket!" hahahahaha, he was laughing so hard and it was so funny. OK, you had to be there. But trust me, it was very funny.

Today was Cam's last soccer game and bowling party, had a good time. The team had the same party planner that we had last week for Cam's birthday. I bought a beer and she scolded me, telling me she hoped I had a designated driver. One. Beer. OOOOOK, never mind the dads having, like, 5. So we are home now and waiting for Molly and Vicky to come home with a cake. It better be good.

birthdays

birthdays sure are different when you are older. i can remember when i was a kid, i barely could contain myself when my birthday was coming. it was like christmas! now birthdays are like any other day. sure everybody says happy birthday to you but thats as far as it goes. when i got home nobody was here, nice i have a few minutes to myself. so i started a fire (in the fireplace) got a beer and just sat and stared at the fire. yes pretty sad but it was very relaxing. when everyone got home from girlscouts the kids all ran in to say happy birthday and i got a big hug and kiss from heather. afterwards it was back to normal, vicky crying, joey and cameron fighting nothing new. nothing different. and why should it be? not real sure, heather and cameron are now at his cubscout meeting while vicky, joey and i are here. everybody wants to do something different. joey is screaming that he wants to play xbox, vicky wants to play a board game and all i want to do is sit here and relax and enjoy the rest of my day. you only turn 47 29 once.

OMG I am SO mad

So I am greeted upon picking up my children with them screaming that a 7th grader broke into their school with either a knife or a gun and they were locked down in their classrooms. By all accounts (including 2 of the teachers I spoke with) the students were told to remain in their classrooms through second recess. When I got to the school there were still 3 police cars lined up across the rear exit. I went to the office to inquire about the situation, and was completely blown off. WTF IS THAT??! The office "lady" not so politely told me that it was a "student situation". I asked what kind of student situation to which she rolled her eyes and emphasized for me, cause I am stupid, A STU-DENT situation. Yeah bitch, I got that, now where is the principal? Busy. With the cops. For their "situation". Now I am pretty sure the kids were OK because they were all let out of class and such, and one of the teachers said he beleives that one of the special ed kids ran away and was missing, which would explain the woman we saw sobbing by the curb in front of the school, but still. No matter WHAT the situation, if a parent wants to know what is going on, (which they SHOULD and I am disgusted that I didn't see a single other parent enquiring even though I saw dozens of kids running out shaky and telling their parents the same story I heard, and saw the parents shocked and worried faces) there is just no fucking way you should blow them off. And beleive me, I will SO be complaining about this.

ebusiness at its finest

if you are going to buy a digital camera do not order it from USAPhotoNation.com. in doing a froogle search looking for a sony cd mavica mvc-cd500(now i wouldn't normally buy this kinda of camera but one of our customers is insisting that we use it) i got to the site and according to text on the website it was in stock and ready to ship. i went ahead and ordered it entering all the information it asked me for, name, address, credit card number, etc. finally it all went through and i thought i was done. i was sadly mistaken. about 3 hours later i get an email from them:

Dear Customer,

We are attempting to contact you regarding your order. Please call us at 1-800-872-3143 or 1-718-526-8080 and speak to Bill extension 107 in regards to your order.

Open Mon-Thu 9:30 - 8:30,
Sun 10:00 - 6:00,
Friday 9:30 - 2:30

ALL EASTERN STANDARD TIME

thinking maybe their was a problem with my card i call and leave a message. i get no call back so finally i call back and instead of putting in the extension i asked for the customer service department. after being on hold for 15 minutes the guy asked me for my order # and said hold on. another guy picks up the phone and says hold on a sec, very professional. five minutes later i hear him pick up the phone and hang up. now i am pissed. i call back and am put on hold for another 10 minutes when they finally answer, i explain what just happened and he says sorry whats your order number. i give him all my information and he says oh well i just need the 3 digit security number on the back of your card. um ok let me pull it out, why doesn't your website ask for it, i ask him. he replies that for security purposes they like for their customers to give it to them to prevent fraud. he then goes on to tell me that i should order a bunch of different accessories for the camera that sony HIGHLY suggests that i get. now i see the real reason for the call its a sales pitch. i politely decline and he continues to beg are you sure, what about an extended warranty. i reply, no thank you. come on how about just a one year warranty. fuck man i said no!! right before we get off the phone i ask him just to verify if they had it in stock. he checks and then tells me that this is an international shipment so we aren't going to be able to get it there using the 2 day fedex you asked for so you are going to save $40! its going to take up to 21 days... now i am fucking pissed i asked him what was the point of the website, why do you take orders on the website i have wasted an hour of my life with you on the phone when all of this should have been taken care of online. fucking ridiculous.

weird thought of the day

why do people say, i have to piss like a race horse? what the fuck does that even mean? do race horses have to pee any more then a regular horse?

update: ok, i just found out why they use that term.

Horses, it turns out, don't always feel comfortable urinating just anywhere. Show horses and racehorses spend a great deal of time in their pens and come to feel safe and secure there. They don't like to urinate outside of those pens and in many cases won't. In fact show and racehorses are frequently returned to their pens to allow them to urinate. Hence racehorses are often walking around outside of their pens with an urgent need to urinate.

Thanks to Neuticals

Alternatively, this phrase originated in the practice (currently illegal, I believe) of giving diuretics to racehorses. The horse would then urinate substantially and drop a few pounds in the process.

Voila! A lighter, faster, somewhat dehydrated horse.

wow isn't the internet great, i can answer my own questions with a quick google search.

Old at 27

Yuu know you're old, no matter what your chronological age, when you are tired and achy every day, your new favorite meal is spinach chicken salad versus chocolate, you can physically no longer eat fast food, going to target or grocery shopping alone is SOO exciting, and when asked what you want for Christmas you answer slipcovers, steamers, dyson vacuum. And maybe some jeans. And for my husband's birthday tomorrow (he'll be 29), we are going to boy scouts and then we'll probably have a few drinks before blissfully passing out. I am 27, not 47. But someone forgot to tell me that, and I have forgotten. Flip-side? When I am 40, my kids will be 18, 20 and 23. And maybe then I'll have the energy to be 27. For now, at least my kids still think I am pretty cool, and we share the same taste in music. Isn't parenthood great?

home at last

seems like i have been gone a week not two days. the class was a complete success. i think we got our monies worth. can you believe it cost $500 for an internet connection? still hard to believe, the hilton that we stayed at came with a free internet connection. i guess thats what we get for having the meeting at the marriot. still in the heart of silicon valley there is no excuse to charge anyone $500 for an internet connection for less then three hours. oh well, i think the users got a lot out of it.

i flew back with victor while pat drove up to redding. let me tell you its not a good idea to get a one way ticket to anywhere. i think this puts a flag on you in the system. we were not able to check in online, so when we got to the oakland airport we had to wait in line to get our boarding pass. when i got mine, of course it had a checkerboard at the bottom of it, indicating: WATCH OUT FOR THIS GUY. when i got up to the security check i was told to go down the hall to the "other" security check point. wtf?!? there is a separate security check? so off i went when i got there i had to wait about 10 minutes, not because there was a long line but because they only let 2 people go through at a time. finally when it was my turn, i had to take off my shoes and belt and got a thorough pat down. afterwards my backpack went through the xray machine 3 times, 3 fucking times, come on now. then the lady took it and tested it to make sure it wasn't a bomb. then she proceeded to take everything out and inspected it. glad i didn't have anything embarrassing in there. surprisingly it was not crowded at all. i have never seen the oakland airport this empty, so i wasn't late for the plane. if it was a regular day though, i prolly would have missed my flight.

i am home now, and all is right in the world. the kids are doing their homework and heather and i are just relaxing.

Why you shouldn't be nice to your kids...

It upsets the balance of the earth and throws everything off. Really. After school I took Cameron to Target to use the 80 some-odd dollars he got for his birthday. He only brought 65, 40 in gift certificates and 25 in cash. He decides he wants Tony Hawk Underground 2, and we walk around looking for someone to open the cabinet and get it, pressed the help button and generally acted kije an ass. The game was 40 bucks, which my son knew, but he didn't know that was all of his gift cards. (Which obviously makes sense). When I told him just give the guy the GC's, he's like, "ALL of them?!" and then tells the guy he doesn't want it anymore. The guys like, "What?" "HE DOESN'T WANT IT NOW!," I say and we walk away. Fast forward almost an hour, and he has chosen to buy The Chronicles of Riddick, Shrek Operation, a shirt, some gloves, popcorn and an icee, with 20 dollars left over.

So then I take Vicky to basketball 30 min early and she practices for practice. The boys played at the park and I listened to bad word songs on my i-pod while slowly freezing solid. Sometime in my frozen fugue my brain decided to spit out the idea of taking the kids to eat at the new Islands that opened friday, so after practice I headed over there. And left. HUGE parking lot, no parking, 50 people waiting in a line in front of the restaurant. SO we went to Chevy's, where the waitress assured me she was stupid and they weren't busy (or mayber just the latter) and 30 minutes later we are still waiting for our food while our waiter rushes around like a chicken with his head cut off.

So now I am finally home, attempting to get my kids to finish their homework amidst crying from Joey about how he hates homework and showers and wants a bath, and Cameron playing with his RC jeep telling me he IS looking for a pencil, he just can't find one. And he was looking SO hard too... If I can just get them into the showers and in bed before 11...

Chris is also out of town tonight, and I am missing him like crazy. I don't know how to live without this guy, he's my best friend, my confidant, my support, and my outlet. Can't wait till he get's home.

MMMM

Beer. Beer, and various other alcoholic beverages, are the legal way to control your responses to any (in my case, 3) small, demonic deceptively cute-looking creatures that dwell in children for some (in my case, 90%) of the time. The past few weeks my kids have launched an attack on me. Not sure what they were hoping to win, as they already get EVERYTHING and basically own me, but they were winning, I was breaking. Then earlier this week, I remembered something important. I remembered that, as a young lass alcohol befriended me and then when my mom and dad yelled it was kinda comical, so I thought, why not try. I AM NOW WINNING. Well at least I'm closing the gap. If you have multiple demonic entities in your home, try drinking a coupke beers and a couple midori sours... Then you can hang your hat/necklace/bra whatever on their horns and laugh while they wail at their inability to steal your soul/dignity/adulthood for that day. Try it.

weekend over...

... and we all lived. Cam's party went over well, although one little boy went home early b/c his mom said he felt out of place b/c he just wasn't as aggressive as the other boys. I felt really bad, but what could I do? Cam got some really cool gifts, not a single dud.

After the party my sister and Mike and Tai came over, informed us that the new baby will be named Max, and then Chris decided to take us all out to eat at Tony Roma's. I love my hubby.

Woke up this morning horrified to see Deperate Housewives was not tivo'd last night, and then at the nail salon I saw a thing on the AMA's last night and realized DH didn't come on... crisis averted. whew! After being abused at the nail salon (hands put in boiling water and finger cut open) I came home to find my loving husband had come and brought me lunch. Life is good.

weekend notes

the weekend is finally coming to a close, thank god! we have survived, just barely. the party was a complete success. cameron had a bunch of his friends come to his cosmic bowling party which was a lot of fun. got to spend some time with nick and michelle, nicky's parents who are going with us up to big bear the week before christmas. they have three kids as well, all the same ages as our kids. they are a fun couple so that weekend should be lots of fun, can't wait.

after the the party naomi and mike, heather's sister and her husband, came over to the house. we hung out for awhile and then went to tony romas for dinner. it was fun, but i think we overwhelmed the waiter. 4 kids and 4 adults who act like kids, but he was a trooper and got a big tip. we are now at home, cameron and joey are playing his new incredibles xbox game that he got from his cousin. i swear this kid got so many presents you would have thought it was christmas.

if you didn't see the link, here are the pictures from the party.

Whew

In spite of all we had to do today, it wasn't too bad at all. Joey passed his belt test with flying colors, sensai said each time, "Do it like Joey". Cameron did well at his soccer game, and I had plenty of snacks. All is well in Crippenworld, and now Trevor and Austin are here and we are waiting for Nicky. Can't wait to get the weekend over with.

yellow belt test

this afternoon joey, my 4 year old son, had his karate belt test. he has been in karate class for about 2 months now and is doing very well. the sensei comes to his school once a week and teaches them the basics of karate also teaching them self respect and self discipline.

everybody in the class was ready to move up to the next level, the yellow belt. when we got to the dojo we were the first one's and the sensei was very impressed. he told joey that he shows a lot of commitment getting there early. in doing so, he gave joey a tour of the dojo and let him play with all the equipment. very cool.

during the test he did a great job. the test was more on discipline then on technique. some of the tests they would make them sit down and place a bright ball in front of them and ask the kids to stare at it for 20 seconds. VERY difficult for a 4 year old! another test was to keep your eyes closed for 60 seconds and not move. joey was the only one that actually stayed still with his eyes closed. very impressive, without his brother and sister there he is a VERY different kid ;)

he got his new belt and also got a medal for doing so well. good job joey!!!

Supermom strikes again...

But as always, noone is watching. Today I took the horned devils, um, I mean kids, to Denny's for lunch, even though they had been horrible yesterday. For my trouble I got a very upset stomach and a headache. We then went to Wal-Mart, home of the value, to get a cooler and goody bags for Cam's party. This evening when Chris got home we went to the mall to get a present for our nephew Trevor, whose birthday is monday, which was extremely difficult to find, and a gift for my sister, whose birthday is today. Chris decided to take us out to eat at Spoons. Chris and I, of course, had a couple of drinks, putting Chris in a good enough mood to take them to Toys R Us to buy toys that we all know will inevitably wind up broken/relegated to "not fun anymore" status within 3 days. But get them they did, Vicky a tamagotchi, Cameron yet another ball to be thrown on the roof, tossed down the hill, or deflated, and Joey a RevUp track that he already doesn't like. Oh the joys of giving.

And because I am not underappreciated enough... We then went to the grocery store to spend some inordinate amount of money on soccer snacks, of which I must bring 20 half-time and 20 end game tomorrow, plus corresponding drinks for both. So I sat in the kitchen pulling grapes and cutting tops off of strawberries and bagging them in 20's for a 'nutritious halftime snack'. Then to balance all that irregular goodness I bought chips and 2 kinds of cookies for end game. I did however make Cameron pack his own goody bags. I hope there is no riot Sunday over who got no high bounce balls and who got 3 lollipops.

And lastly, a testament to my ever present masochism, tomorrow my two nephews and Cam's best friend Nicky will be spending the night. Let's hope I don't drink so much that I forget to get up for his party. We have basketball practice 9a-10a, then I run to Little League sign-ups. Soccer from 12:30-1:45 or so, at which time Chris will have Joey at the dojo testing for his yellow belt in karate. Then the slaughter begins, 6 kids and 2 tired parents... Hope to be alive and well sunday night...

alcohol

cosmo & melon ball mess

sometimes the only thing to get you through the night is alcohol. for some god forsaken reason we decided to go to the mall when i got home from work. we had to get heather's sister, johanna and my nephew a birthday present. as you can see november is a busy time for us birthday wise. cameron, johanna, trevor, me and my sister. not to mention joseph's next month.

after we got the presents my dumbass decided to take the family out to spoons for dinner. actually it wasn't bad, the kids ate all their dinners, surprisingly. i had two margaritas while heather had two midori sours. that sure helps lemme tell ya!

now that we are home i started a fire in the fire place for the first time in 8 years! yes i know, i rock!! as you can see by the pictures i made heather and i a couple of more drinks and now we are settling in watching the fire roar and getting the kids ready for bed.

tomorrow is going to be a VERY busy day. vicky has basketball practice at 9 (i am sure i will be hung over for that) cameron then has a soccer game, in which we have snack duty. snack duty consists of not only a snack at the end of the game but also a "nutrious" snack at half time, no candy or junk food, dammit! not only are you supposed to make enough snacks for the boys you are also supposed to bring a snack for the siblings. wtf? this is costing me more then $50, completly ridiculous. during the middle of the game joey has a karate belt test so i will have to leave and take him. after all of this our nephews, trevor and austin will be coming to spend the night as well as cameron's friend nicky. sunday we will be having cameron's cosmic bowling party.

wow WAY to much going on this weekend. i don't know if there is enough alcohol in my house to get me through, maybe the blood pressure meds will help, lol, we shall see... i will keep you informed.

yay for drugs...

yesterday i went to the doctor. i have been dreading it for a very long time and i am very glad it is over. he violated me like no person should ever be violated. and to top it off he yelled at me. he asks why i haven't been taking my blood pressure medicine. cause it doesn't fucking work, i respond. i have the same blood pressure every time i walk into this place. maybe its this place, not me? maybe you give me high blood pressure cause i am scared of what you are going to do to me every time i walk in this place. sticking things in places you shouldn't be. keeping me up all night worried about what you are going to do to me. do you think maybe, just maybe, that is the problem?

he didn't like that excuse very much and gave me some different medicine to try. after reading the bottle i was very scared. this looks like some serious shit, but hey i'll try it. whats the worst that can happen? i took the first one this morning, after about 30 minutes i feel good! i mean i feel REALLY good. is this what you are supposed to feel like? is this what i have been missing my entire life? holy crap this is cool. i am sure its only the first one and my body is just trying to get used to it. tomorrow i will be back to my old crappy self again but for now, yay for drugs!

The Incredible Incredibles

My mom always said if you can't say something nice don't say nothing at all... So all I have to say is the movie was awesome and Joey was good. Took the kids to the McDonald's at Hollywood and Highland, had the good fortune to be there in the middle of a protest against Bush. Remarked to my kids that this was why I had loved growing up there... then everything went to hell. Vicky, being lady luck herself, knocked over an old lady who said "THAT HURT BY THE WAY!" Lovely. Movie was amazing though, well worth it. Happy Veteran's day, I'm going to bed.

the incredibles

in short it was incredible. by far the best "kids" movie i have ever seen. shrek 2 was good this was way better! the night did not start off good, driving to holywood sux, traffic sux, people really suck. there is no way in hell it should take 2 hours to go 35 miles especially on a holiday. finally we made it parked acrossed the street in the kodak center parking structure and headed for the will call booth. picked up our tickets and then walked to mcdonalds to grab a quick bite to eat.

after dinner we walked back to the theatre where there was a designated spot for us "vip" ticket holders. when the guy came to check our tickets he was shocked to see that we had such good seats, "how long ago did you get these", he asks completely shocked that anybody could have seats this good. whatever dude, we then waited in line. the kids were real anxious, vicky leans against the pole holding the rope for the line and falls over knocking the pole over on the ruddest bitch. as vicky gets up, the lady screams at us, "THAT REALLY HURT, YOU KNOW!" no shit, we pushed the fucking thing over on you on purpose cause you looked like you needed it. afterwards her son runs up to her telling his mom, relax it was an accident.

finally we got in and we were sitting in the front row. normally for any type of concert, play, opera type perfomance these seats would have been perfect but who the hell wants to sit in the front row when watching a movie?? before the movie started they had a live show with all the disney characters, which was pretty good. then the movie started and it was awesome. everyone of us loved it.

after the movie we headed back to the car, but were unable to get back to the door we came out of. well we were able to get back to the door but there was no handle on it. so we walked down the stairs a different way and basically walked up and down the parking structure very confused and very lost. just like the seinfeld episode when they get lost in the parking structure after shopping in the mall it took us about 30 minutes to find the care. damn, it was and adventure.

Happy Bithday Cameron

Today is Cameron's 7th birthday, and although the day was filled with promise and should have been great, what with us going to see The Incredibles and all, the kids woke me up screaming and fighting and have not stopped yet. I have spent my morning crying and having a full-blown, hurry-I-need-a-paper-bag panic attack, wherein I sit on the floor with ripping chest pains trying to gasp in breath and somehow make one of the devils standing on the stairs STILL fighting hear me say "Please get me a paper bag, hurry, please, hurry, please..." Amazingly, the paper bag works. And the children are STILL fighting. Sometimes I wonder if death would not be the more humane choice for me. On my best days I cannot deal with this full frontal rambo attack they do... They always fight, but days like today, when it's neverending, are beyond reason. Add to that the fact that I was woken up and for some reason already in a state of semi-agitation, today may be the day that one of us dies. One isn't really too late for alcohol is it?

Another fun night

After picking the boys up from school and Vicky from tutoring, we headed home and knocked out homework (at least most of it) before heading to Vicky's basketball practice. She did pretty well, and even though she has never played and didn't know the "lingo", and some of these girls have been playing for years, she kept up well and even did better than some. Looks like she may be good at this. We got home and has dinner, chicken and rice Crock Pot Classic, very good, tasted better than if I had made it myself. :) And then I got to baking 24 cupcakes for Cameron to take to his class tomorrow for his birthday since there is no school thursday. Chris helped Vicky design a flag and make it, they did a really good job. See it here. All in all it has been a busy but pretty good night. We are now finishing up our our day with reading and showers, hopefully tomorrow will go well also.

Dolphinland

sometimes i wish i was still in school. when i was in school technology was nothing like it is today. i had an apple IIGS, and for the time it was awesome. if i remember correctly i think i did some pretty cool stuff. the best thing was when i dragged the entire hard drive into the trash bin, rendering the computer useless.

this evening vicky, my 10 year old daughter, had to create a flag for class tomorrow. as you can see this is what we came up with. pretty cool and it took all of about 10 minutes to do. well, me being the proud father that i am, i think its cool but i guess we will see what her teacher thinks tomorrow. this is the fun stuff, the stuff i am good at. i leave all the "hard" stuff to heather, you know math, english, history, etc. the more i think about it i thank god i am NOT in school anymore.

gloomy days

I brightened up this gloomy day by going shopping and spending hordes of my husbands hard earned money. Chris went out to lunch with some guys from work, and I went to buy birthday gifts fir Cameron and Chris, and then some clothes for me cause my loving husband demanded that I do so... No, seriously. He said, "Buy yourself something nice" and I said, "I can't, I have to spend lotsa moneys on other things" (yes, I talk like that). And then HE said, "I'll give you more money, you better come home with something cute to wear!" I guess my clothes are out of style or something. I actually was a little stressed shopping, I had to make sure I found something cute so I wouldn't get in trouble... I *think* I succeeded. Two more days till we go see The Incredible's and Cam's birthday. 6 days to his party. God give me the strength to get through the holiday season and all that comes with it.

umbrella tree

tonight i learned as much as anybody can on the umbrella tree. for my daughter's assignment tonight she was to learn and report on what the umbrella tree is. i figured for all 3 of my readers it would intrest you to know what we learned about the umbrella tree. first the botanical name is Schefflera actinophylla and they are native to australia. they are fast growing and contrary to what my daughter thinks they can not grow to 30 feet in 3 hours. they are fast growing though and very common house plants in hawaii and parts of florida. they grow in the subtropics to tropical coast in high rainfall areas, so i am not quite sure why they make good house plants since it doesn't usually rain in the house. most species have spikes of white, sometimes red, flowers followed by red to purple berries which attract parrots. my wife is also now knoweledgeable in this and she is telling me not to forget to add that it is a part of the ginseng family, not that i saw that anywhere so i am taking her word for it. so that my lovely readers is what an umbrella tree is, hope you learned something.

little surprises

this evening has been filled with surprises. i walked in the door from home to a clean house. my beautiful wife had worked her ass of today after our little demon children destroyed it yesterday. not an easy task i tell ya. maria spent most of the day saturday cleaning and it only lasted less then a day. by sunday night the house was trashed, with no sign of maria ever being there. money well spent, i really know how to use my money well. i should have been a financial planner instead of a computer geek.

today i took heather out to lunch and i guess for my reward she didn't play into her addiction to sims. instead she was the good wife i always knew her to be. not only did she clean the house but she and vicky made 60 cookies for vicky's class project. i am still in utter shock. after eating the delicious taco's that i made, we are all sitting in front of the tv watching catch that kid. one of the many movies cameron got from gramma.

lunch again

Chris came and took me to lunch again, this time at Olive Garden. We had a lot of fun, lots of jokes and laughing. We definitely deserve it after yesterday :) On the down side, when I got home there was a lot of yelling and such from all my friends I've been ignoring, you know, Larry et al. Oh well, they better quiet, my husband loves me and WE'RE hanging out.

the weekend

Friday night the kids had cubscouts and girl scouts, respectively, so MY friday night went solely to that. When I got home (around 9) we watched a bit of TV and went to bed. Saturday Cameron had a soccer game, which Molly came to, and what a good day for her to come. Cam played very well, scoring 3 of the 4 goals the team got. After that he went with Gramma, we brought Vicky to spend the night at Angelique's house, and Chris, Joey and I went to Ikea to buy storage bins but they didn't have big enough ones, so we went to eat at Tony Roma's and then to target. When we got back it was dark, so we watched some TV and played some games. Sunday we got to work and really got a lot of work done. We filled the dumpster almost all the way, and today it will most certainly be completely full. We will actually have to rent another one to do inside the house, but man it feels good to get so much done and see such progress.

spring cleaning update

i didn't think it was possible but we have filled the dumpster and are only 80% done with the garage. we accomplished a lot today. i had no idea how much junk we actually had. its amazing how much stuff three kids can go through. the endless amounts of broken toys and games with missing pieces we threw away today was astounding. to think about how much money was wasted is just depressing.

where did the day go

being woken up at 7:30 by kids screaming and fighting is just not the right way to start your weekend. after screaming and yelling much louder we finally rolled out of bed to get ready for cameron's soccer game. my mom was coming over at 10 so we had to straighten up the house as well. don't want mom to realize the slobs that we are.

we got to the game and cameron was awesome, scoring 3 goals. me, having no understanding of the game am uterly shocked that my own flesh and blood actually is good at it, quite good i might add. here are some pictures of the game.

after the game we headed back home, cameron went with gramma to spend the night for his birthday treat and vicky was going to spend the night at her friends house. getting vicky's sleeping bag we headed out to drop her off. after getting back home maria was already there and was starting on the house so we decided we should go to ikea and out to lunch so not to be in her way.

arriving back at the house around 4:30 we saw that maria was still cleaning so we decided that we should go to target, by the time we got home it was pitch dark. what the fuck, its only 5:30 2 months ago it was 8pm and still i could go outside and get a sunburn. this just isn't right. i guess we have a lot of work cut out for tomorrow.

spring cleaning... in the fall

for weekend fun heather and i thought it would be a great idea to clean out the garage that we haven't been able to get into for the past 2 years. we rented the biggest dumpster i have ever seen. i didn't even realize you could rent them this big, i can throw away everything that we own and still not fill this thing up. cool!

we live in a nice neighborhood, but we are like the white trash neighbors that came from fontana. the only thing missing from our front yard is the beat up car parked on the grass on blocks. we have an old dryer and trash compactor on the side of the house that has been there for months. when sears dropped off the new appliances i naturally assumed they would take away the old ones, if i had no way of picking them up from the store obviously i had no way of disposing the old ones. oh well.

tomorrow should be a fun day, cameron has a soccer game at 11 then is going with gramma for the night. vicky is going to a friends to spend the night so it will be joey, heather and myself cleaning throwing away everything inside of our garage and anything else i can convince heather to get rid of. afterwards we will go to my favorite store, ikea, and get containers to organize everything that is in the house that should be in the garage.

midday thoughts

So wonder of wonders, my husband came home for lunch to see our trash (be patient) and he took me out to lunch at Chevy's. This was very refreshing seeing as I spend all day at home with Larry, who lives in my head, and Bianca, Babe, Erica, Kendall & co, who happen to live in Pine Valley, TVLand, Soap operadom. So thanks Chris for showing me that real people do exist during the daylight hours. As for our trash...

We are, because we are insane, going to attempt to fix 8 years of cramming everything we couldn't let go of or didn't have a place for into our garage, in the space of 5 days. Now let me tell you, I have a 3-car garage that I can't get a bike into right now. So we rented a roll off dumpster. Now, I'm talkin huge. I could fit my friggin car in it, tow if they were stacked, and I drive an extended minivan. If I should go missing within said 5 days, please tell authorities I may have been trapped in this hulking dumpster and suffocated by the 10,000 leaking stuffed animals, broken barbies, rusted bikes, popped balls and missing puzzle peices. Search the local landfill.

where have all the babysitters gone?

Growing up I was a babysitter, and in constant competition...There were always 10 other girls who wanted to babysit for cheaper or whatever, I had to compete for jobs. Of course this led me to beleive that having kids was not the end of one's life, that it could in fact continue, on a nightly basis if one so wished. What the hell was that? It must have been that I was really on a major crack/heroin binge and having hallucinations that people cared about those beaten down, deprived, suicidal people we call mothers. Because now I have my own "little angels", and cannot manage to find a single friggin babysitter, except my mother-in-law, who contrary to the laws of nature has shunned the blue-haired, cookie-baking, full-time grandchild babysitting that was supposed to be her destiny in favor of an actual adult life. What is this world coming to?? So anyways, she only babysits periodically. The problem, of course, is economics, and where we live. Teenagers are supposed to be desperate for spending money and willing to spend their evenings with a few "angels" to get some. Here, however, in suburbian heaven, the teenagers are desperate for NOTHING. Not money, cars, designer couture or drugs. Babysitting has been rendered unnecessary by daddy's wallet and mommies inability to stay sober long enough to care. Welcome to the OC. Maybe I will stand outside the highschool with a sign. One of them has to want money.

depression

one of the many downsides to having kids is its impossible to get a babysitter for new years eve. trolling the internet i found out tonight that tiesto is scheduled to do a 6 hour set new years eve in los angeles. let me repeat that TIESTO IN LA!! doesn't this figure, i have been waiting for a year and half for him to come back and of all nights it has to be on new years eve. dammit, this just isn't fair.

This phenomenal NYE event will set a new standard for arena scale shows with an electronic dance artist - inspired by Tiesto's 25,000 person event in Holland, the PlayStation DualPlay NYE will bring a Tiesto 6 Hour Set with insane production, themed performances and a very special midnight countdown and performance by Juliette & the Licks. Other guests will include a very special singer from Holland, various themed performances by The Purrfect Angelz and many other guests TBA.

as if you didn't know tiesto is my favorite dj, ever. if ever i am depressed i can put on a remix of his and it will completely change my attitude. heather and i saw him live at the mayan and it was completely amazing. the energy he brings with him is incredible, for somebody who normally doesn't dance he can keep me going all night long.

after picking myself up off the floor in disbelief that i am going to miss him nye's i found out he will be in san diego december 16th, which is a thursday night. now its time to convince mom she needs to spend some time with her grandkids, you hear me mom? you can spend the night and have a grand time, doesn't it sound like fun??

laker home opener

while everyone else watched and waited for the election results. i had the good fortune to attend the home opener of the la laker game. excited to see how the lakers would be with out the super star talent they had last year. i was deeply saddened, the game sucked. i felt like i was at a clipper game, not a laker game. usually going to a laker game sitting in the staple center you feel an energy, last night there was no energy. before the game kobe walked out to half court and said a few words, it was the most ridiculous thing i had ever seen. never have i seen a player before a game address the crowd like this, it was very weird. the coolest thing about the game was barry bonds sat real close to us and there were a few other stars there as well. the lakers did win but watching them play was not exciting at all. very disappointing.

apparently i am the only one who thinks this though, reading the sports pages and some blogs everybody else has a completely different view.

sadness

OK, if there were ever any doubt as to who was who in my household, I will answer it. I stand a wounded and saddened woman today, very disappointed in America. We obviously are a nation with much still to learn. And if I may be facetious, (which I may, because this is my fucking blog)I will point out that all the backwater, hick ass, bigoted and country states are the ones that won this election for Bush. Congrats to Bush and Co, and I hope that my daughter and I will not suffer the consequences of a right wing conservative president and his cabinet. Oh and the rest of the world too.

If anything came of this election, at least Americans voted in record numbers, I hope that interest continues into 2008.

Also, I realize that my views are not shared by everyone (duh!), indeed I am in the minority in the family I married into, however, this is my blog and my place to vent and give my feelings, so please respect that.

el presidente

It's 5 pm CA time, with 3 hours to poll closing, and I, like the rest of the country, am anxiously awaiting news of our election. Mine is a divided house, one of us democrat and one of us replubican (I'll let you guys figure out who), but I think one of us (ME) cares slightly more about the outcome. So I am here at home watching the news and Chris is at the Lakers game. I bought Around the world in 80 days and the kids and I will watch that tonight.

VOTING... AND SIMS

Well it's election day, and I will be leaving shortly to vote, with chris. I hope all of you will be voting, regardless of who you will be voting for. I really think that as American's it is our duty to vote. If you don't, you have no right to complain about a damn thing, you didn't even care enough to vote. Now that the lecture is over...

So I've been trying to have twins since I got the Sims 2, and after 4 generations and like 30 kids, I finally have twins. My girl is black, black hair, my boy is 1/3 black, 2/3 white, blonde hair, gramma had red hair. So my first kid is black with red hair, my next 2 are twins, one boy, one girl, one black, one white, both blonde, and my 4th kid is white, no discernable hair color as of yet. wtf? I have a damn rainbow of kids. I mean, I had kids that looked more alike when I adopted 7 of them in a different family. Ah, well, at least I finally got my elusive twins. I guess this is the games way of laughing at me. haha, you want twins? THIS is what you get sucker!! And also, one of the 4 resident ghosts on my lot (dead relatives from generations past of course, one being the red headed gramma) killed my nanny. Possessed her and it killed her. (I do not control the ghosts). So now my damn nanny is buried in my family graveyard as well.

UPDATE: 4TH child has red hair, 5th is light skinned and blonde, girl is pg with 6th, will let you all know...
